Hi, I'd like to replace a number of outside bulbs with CFLs, but I currently have sockets in these fixtures that sense when it's dark and then turn the light on. I suspect CFLs won't work in these because CFLs don't work with things like dimmer switches. Has anyone tried this? Is there an alternative set up? I want to the lights to go on automatically at night.

While we are at banning Tungsten bulbs, why not irons as well, get one up on the Aussies. I think ironing is an unnecessary waste of time and energy. Creased should be the new smart. Any environmentalist out there?

To help the environment I want to know how and to keep my electric bill down. Electric water heaters, oven, and light bulbs. All I hear the environmentalist say is turn off the lights.

#1-Has anyone thought to study plants to see if they are growing at a faster rate due to higher levels of C02? I know that if you up the nutrients of a plant, it will grow faster and stronger.

#2- Why isn't there any talk about the fact that we still experience lower average global temps than we did before the ice age? Seems to me that we are just still coming out of it.

Hi,

Does anyone know anything about low energy light bulbs?

I am disabled and this means that I would have to get someone in to change the bulbs for me so I want to get it right before I buy them.

Can anyone recommend which ones are the most efficent bulbs available and what the different types are?

I need both screw and baynet cap bulbs.

Thanks for your help.

I am concerned about the environment and would like to make more use of renewable electricity. The best way to do this seems to be by installing a grid connect Solar or Wind home generation system but I am not sure how to get one installed, especially the part about getting connected to the grid. I live in a three bedroom semi in south east London.

I've heard that solar panels will wear out after about 25 years or so. Is this true? If it is true, do they slowly get worse and worse, or do they just all of a sudden die out? Thanks.

I know this can't be done everywhere, but some places, I believe it could be done. Structurally, someone would have to make sure it was safe.

A great amount of energy goes for heating and cooling, why wouldn't it work?

I personally don't, and it's ridiculous how afraid of it people are. Since all I hear is the media blabbering on about it, I'd like to know what everyday people think.
In my opinion, global warming is a fashion, a fad, a majority belief, and shouldn't be trusted unless there's actual scientific evidence.
