We are looking at purchasing a lot to build a home on. Our friends advised us a few of the older homes along the same mountain range but about 15 miles away have radon problems. I did not know if there are tests to determine the levels without there being a structure.

how would you respond to someone who tells you (a) that he or she does not believe in biological evolution because it is "just a theory"? How would you respond if another student states, (b) we should not worry about air pollution because through natural selection, the human species will develop lungs that can detoxify pollutants? In your responses, be sure to provide factual evidence from earth's history

I mean nothing bad when I ask this question, honest. But why do we go out to protect a certain species of animal as it is about to become extinct? What purpose does it serve? If it becomes extinct would it change anything in life as we know it?

Again, I'm just curious. I don't really understand how some animals are eaten while others are protected.

Today in the New York Times there was an article which stated that Chevron Oil Company is using a new method to extract oil from old wells. This is good news for right now, and seems it will lower our dependency on foreign oil products.

What do you think? Does this look like a good thing to you until scientists working on alternative fuels find more answers? Have a look.

On Thursday at 9pm on Channel 4 there is a programme with an impressive line-up of experts who present an alternative view to US being responsible for global warming.

I have NEVER been convinced that man is clever or powerful enough to overcome the rules of nature and that what is happening - it is UNDOUBTEDLY happening - is caused by nature. Perhaps this programme will convert some of you or at least make people think that there is little human involvement.

I often see 4x4s parked up to drop a carrier bag of bottles in recycling banks and think about all that fuel being used. Why can't milk floats do an afternoon pick-up door-to-door and increase recycling rates? Are they on charge all day?

Its a very big world and there may be billions of tons of unexplored oil under the mass of this Earth, just wasting itself away, while nations in want of oil, are not even aware that they might have the answer to their needs right in their backyard. What is needed though is the finance which is not enough to tap this resource, which would make it very cheap. Great expectations ?
