Al Gore hasn't told them about it yet, so they aren't concerned.

I recently read an article that polar bears were drowning because ice caps are melting in the artic... due to global warming. Polar bears can swim but the ice caps are floating further away making them swim long distances. Many die from drowning.

global warming is affecting the polar bear, ebcasue the ice is mlting, therefore taking away is home. he can only survive in the cold areas of the world, and thus with the melting ice caps, its deteriorating, and rapidly. They could be extinct in our children life time:!

the north pole unlike the south pole (which is ice mass on a continent ,) is ice in the seas ,when it melts the polar bears are left home less swimming around ,they will have to migrate to Northwest territories and Alaska and start eating Eskimos and Native Americans.

I would just like to add that since they have real troubles finding food now, the first cases of cannibalism (polar bears eating dead bodies) have just been observed. It´s time to react.
And why some people sit like you said in their sofas, eat chips, fear losing this amazing and exciting lifestyle... it´s time to find solutions
The only one I can give is to relocate them on the south pole... but that would be disruptive for other species

Easy, they live on ice. As it gets warmer ice melts, less ice means less area for them to hunt.
Also the ice gets thinner, so the bears can't hunt as far out as before. They sometimes have to swim out to get food, and if they have to swim out too much farther, if they can't swim back they drown.
Think about it like if your house is on an island, and the island is getting smaller and smaller so you have to go out farther and farther to fish.
Eventually you have no island.
