The resources are divided in different sectors. Tradionally one thinks of timber as a resource. But if you analyze deeply, a temperate rain forest provides also protection to the soil so it can be used later on to produce food. It provides biodiversity, from which we learn, for example to develop new medicine, aesthetics, inheritance in general to future generations, recreation, the availability of future resources that we are yet to learn to use.
