Check Senator Inhoff's speech on the floor of the Senate on September 20, 2006. There was more CO2 in the air at the time of the dinosaurs than there is now. Weather is cyclical and we are in a warming period although it was warmer in the 1950's than it is now. How good are weather forcasters? They predicted a worse huricane season for 2006 than that of 2005 - not an exact science.

Al Gore has talked alot about a consensus on mans impact on Global Warming. Since when does science involve a consensus? How about peer reviewed studies that can be duplicated.? Not only is the debate not over, it has never really taken place.

China is expanding rapidly and they are not the only ones. They are burning hundreds of thousands of tonnes of coal a year to help supply the power they need to advance like the West. So why should we reduce our CO2 emissions, when its not going to make any difference whatsoever?

Here is a successful actor with the oversize house, cars, private jets, etc. He probably consumes more energy in one month than the average American does in a year. Reminds me of the fox in the hen house.

So the topic of this decade is global warming.
I see a lot of people still using wood to warm their houses (I live in Scandinavia) so what's best? A gas oven or electric one?

This only in terms of the small things we can do at home to prevent global warming.

....is not whether it exists, but what is the cause and can man fix it? Not only is there a lot of debate about whether or not it's man made, but there is obviously some who are missing the point about it's existence. It obviously exists or we would still be in the Ice Age.

The ski resorts in the Alps have NO snow. This is very unusual for this time of year. In the southern England (where i live), it hasn't snowed for ages.

When I was a kid the big threat was a new ice age, and my friends and I used to hear this crap and wonder if we all would have to move to Florida or somewhere hot (from Minnesota). Now its warming and the least likely experts (actors) are the most vocal. Explain? Explain to me where Leonardo DiCaprio gets his expertise? He skipped higher education for limo's, planes, world travel, hot brazilian models, etc... now he's an expert on global warming? Why were average temperatures so much higher in the early 1930's than today? Why were the so cool in the 70's? Why are they high today? Consider earth is young in the big picture and we are thousands of years old, a few decades is in each direction (even a thousand years) isn't even a fraction of the data necessary to determine a long term trend when the history is millions of years??????

Please go back to acting Leo, you are so so at that and the payoff is much better (models, travel, etc...)

How could a family make their one or two acre property totally pollution free?

I'm talking about air, water, soil and noise pollution. All sewerage, refuse, trash, emissions would have to be recycled or purified somehow.

What do you think of this concept? What if we made this an ideal to strive for world-over?

I watched it, in parts on the internet. I know two above average in intelligence people who don't beleive man can change the environment and the warming is just part of a cycle. I'm known for being a negative freak and of course I beleive we play a part. Also, If greenhouse accumiliating in the atmosphere is man made can't we use technology to reverse it somehow? We can split atoms, can't we do just about anything on a molecular level.

Obviously windmills extract some power from the wind using blades that rotate etc, but I wonder if it would be possible to get energy from the wind by mimicing the rocking/swaying motion of trees on a windy day?

I believe that larger windmills with a larger area of blade space exposed to the wind will spin with less wind speed. A tree or something like it provides a lot of space for a less powerful wind to push against...so...would it be possible to construct something like a sail on a hinge to extract more power at lower wind speeds?

I apologise if this all sounds like nonsense. I’m not a scientist, hence the question and I’m guessing that windmills work in a way that is more efficient than my oddball suggestion/idea.

What do you think anyway?

Is this nonsensical or impractical?

Any thoughts/comments appreciated.

Thanks
