Climate change is real and it been happening since the world began. The myth is that man is causing it, and the fallacy is the belief man can change nature.

In Barrow in Furness it hasn't snowed for the past 20 + years but it's been blo*** cold enough. But weather patterns and the global atmosphere is a natural cycle. Even the top scientists cannot agree on the subject. A short while ago we were being told in the UK we have just had the hottest summer since the early 1700s, seeing how that was 200 years ago what does it suggest to you, yes, you've guessed it, it's a natural cycle.
It does have one headache for us, it's given Bliar an excuse to tax us yet more. I'm still trying to work out how paying more tax will help to solve the global warming. Actually animals contribute more gas into the air than anything else, but then, they can't be taxed so we get the blame.

the thing is, is that the earth has been on a constant cycle of change anyway. it is continuously warming up and cooling down regardless of human or volcanic or otherwise, intervention. it is because of this that is is hard to prove conclusively that the changes in the environment that we are seeing this year are directly as a result of human action.
a stunning example, and extreme, of the flip changes that can occur is the end of the ice age 10,000 bc. evidence shows that the it wasn't a slow progress, in fact the ice just melted in one great deluge and subsiquently created rivers the size of which we can only now see evidence from space. coupled on to the fact that is is clear there was no warning for local populations that this melt would take place, and thousands of cities with their inhabitants where drowned.
personally, whilst i do subsribe to this in the sense that there will always be a natural change in our environment, i also subscribe to the fact that our impact is also having an enourmous effect as well. one can't expect to mine the planet's minerals and natural resources, burn fossil fuels, and generally be negligent about rubbish, and not expect it to have negitive effects on the planet's balance both ecologically, and magnetically. i also find that the current way that humans are using these resources is un-necessary considering we now have the technology to use sustainable resources, which are not only more friendly to the planet, but also more efficient.
the fundimental problem however with all of it is human greed. a failing that has yet to burn itself out, and will only do so when the current world we live in collapses.

Its never been categorically proved that man is causing the warming effect - and don't let people tell you that that research was sponsored by an oil company - even if some of it was they sponsor hundreds if not thousand of research propsals a year or all of them tainted too? The evidence from ice cores suggests that since the ice last recinded there has been rises and falls in the temperature - technically we are still in an ice age or at least we have been.
What is most likely is the worst man has done is increased the likelyhood of moving out of a the interglacial ice age that we have and are moving towards a more temperate globe this research is shown to happen throughout the rock record.
There is always at least one opinion on this and you have to remember who is saying it and why, the most reliable sources of information are peer reviewed academic papers and even they can't agree!!

Because people like to stick their head up their own butt and pretend it's not happening. A lot of older people's attitude (my parents included) is that as it won't have any effect on their lives it's not a problem.
Well thanks, tell that to small kids in 25 years time when they are adults and living with the mess that has been created over the last sixty years.
A lot of wealthy older people basically earnt their wealth by pillaging natural resources and related services and pumping tons of crap into the ground, oceans, and atmosphere.
How about now using some of that wealth to fund research into cleaning the mess up.
Not likely to happen is it.
It's easier to say it's nonsense and call anyone who is concerned (and we should be concerned) a tree hugger, or geek, or whatever name is flavour of the day.
One person springs to mind when this issue crops up, Jeremy Clarkson. Asshole TV presenter that likes to promote driving fast gas guzzling cars, boats, planes, etc. Is always very vocal about what a load of rubbish global warming is. Where did he read that, in the Sun or Daily Mail.
I don't think anyone is saying that warming is not to some degree a natural course of events caused by a number things out of our control. But....it's happening at an accelerated rate. We could end up in a positive feedback loop where one of the planets balanced systems is thrown off. Then it's like a snowball rolling down a hill and who knows the outcome.

I think the big deal is people don't understand the science, they repeat the sound bites. Has the earth been this hot before? Yes. But the why is linked to large amounts of CO2 being emitted by the earth and the what happened is mass extinctions.
And the common argument, it has been this hot before does not deny that it is getting hot again.
Basically, people don't get to the facts, they believe the outliers in the field, and they support what is convenient. A lot of people say prominent geologists say there is no global warming-- they may be prominent, but they are NOT respected. Someone gave a talk against global warming at a national geology meeting this year--they were widely viewed as an idiot, and a disgrace to the profession.
However people tend to be inflexible in their views and supportive of the easiest path.

Whilst I will agree there does seem to be some form of climate change I think this is just a natural phenomenon. Im not convinced that 6 billion people on this earth can effect such a change. The`yl be telling us next all the materials we dig out of the ground will eventually make the Earth implode

Political agendas mainly. Anyone who is still contending that global warming is a myth is either lying, in denial or ignoring the facts. Scientists are in agreement about the fact that global warming exists. The only question now is, is it too late to stop it and if not, then how?

Global warming is a natural phenomenon. No deed of a human being can save the planet, whatever you do. God is taking care of his business.

They always come up with some other fact - like it's colder or wetter somewhere else. Maybe they just advocate a climate shift. It's like ostriches burying their heads in the sand (they don't actually do this apparently - just humans then...)
