We have heard a lot about global warming recently (and global cooling some decades ago) and I would like to ask if it is worth it trying to tackle it, at least we have heard that there has been an ice age before (or is it after) the dinosaurs and then a meteor, which destroyed the dinosaurs world but here we are today, living as the dominant being of the world.

Could we overcome global warming or should we just leave nature to take its course and see how things work out in the end. Why bother about an uncertainty?

Don't mean to offend anyone, it is just a question!!

Thank you

If Humans still eat, sleep, defecate etc, and are still largely influenced by emotions rather than reason (there will always be small exceptions), are we not just thinking/political animals, but still animals nonetheless? Should our motivation for achieving environmental sustainability and security be more based upon realizing our true status within Nature, rather than trying to overcome it?

I just saw An Inconvenient Truth, and I notice there was a part that places like Florida will be submerged because of this problem. Will this include Philippines (located in the south east asia)

Please let me know the details which company or scientists or people that Al Gore talked to for that particular info, so maybe I'll do more research on it.

I would appreciate this. Thank you.

I'm 62 years old and have been following global warming now for the past 25 years. One solution is to elect someone as President who gives a damn, this one does'nt. I don't think the majority of us realize the consequences of the temperature rising constantly because of the gases we as a nation continue to emit into the atmosphere. Americans can be very callous and assuming in thinking that it will always work out and be corrected. I've got news for you. As long as you have the powerful inflence peddling among the elected leaders to get into office, they will always repay them by relaxing regulations or dropping them all together as this President has done. It will take many decades to correct the damage done so far by these corporations and industries. It's not normal to have 80 degrees in Charlotte NC in February or December. The extreme temperature changes should be a wake up call to everyone however it was Nero who fiddled why Rome burnt. We need to stop "fiddling" and take action

ISST would provide a global treaty level platform for information technology usage and capacity . The treaty platform would inform the international community for many areas , including space based systems for security , crisis , resources , energy , and public education . ISST would also operate for statistical process , compuational analysis and inter-govermental planning agendas . ISST would be a valuable tool for the international community , enabling the complex task of problem solving, for issues such as global warming , global developmental process and sustainability . ISST is available at this time through US Space Agency , Congress and Senate .

Do you feel that good information and good communications are helpful in fighting the threat posed by global warming?
Do you feel ISST would be a valid contribution for World Peace and the assurance of our planetary future ?
Would you like to see US develop ISST for International ratification?

I see the earth changing (and thats normal and ok) but I see massive human influence and loss of biodiversity. I notice a change in the weather and a change in the forests where I live and grew up. I understand nothing is constant but change but I also understand that 6 billion humans are too many and nature does not let any other living creature overpopulate as we have. How can climate change be denied? Does a scientist need to confirm what you can see when you just open your eyes? Isnt all science relative? Truth today was not truth 50/500 years ago, nor will it be in 200 years from now. Nature has rules, and we have bent, broken and smashed them. Every action has a reaction.

I live in NZ where nuclear electricity generation is not an option and where solutions have to be found that are sustainable. Most of our electricity is generated by hydro-electric dams but as we move towards needing more electricity (it seems minimising use is in the too-hard basket) we are being asked to consider "solutions" such as Marsden B - a proposed coal fired power station. What I want to know is, why cant electricity companies make a deal with us to install solar panels on our roofs which can contribute to the national grid daily? Obviously electricity is difficult to store but there must be a more sustainable and economically friendly way to deliver electricity to homes without sacrificing the planet.

i live in hawaii, and every year the tourist levels rise. and i really hate living here now b/c the traffic gets worse every year. took me 4 hrs to get home, i live 10 minutes away from my work using the freeway. this happens daily. i think the tourist levels were like 4.2 mil. this year. it's expected to get higher every year and it does. i think they need to make land made land and expand the island to make more space or an artificial island or something.

It seems that at the grocery store fish is costing less and less. I dont understand it. Seafood used to be something I rarely bought because I couldn't afford it (mostly bought chicken or cheaper cuts of beef) Nowadays however, it seems that all kinds of fish are dirt cheap- shrimp, salmon, pollock, calamari...all kinds of seafood cost much less than it used to. Has anyone else noticed this?

I was casually telling an aquaintance that a news report mentioned the cost of gasoline would be affected by what kind of winter was in store, i.e. based on supply and demand. She proceeds to tell me that the space shuttle affects the weather. She said (paraphrasing), You watch, when the space shuttle returns to earth in Florida it will rain alot there. Basically, space missions affect the environment and the weather. I think this is nuts. What do you think?
