It's not real. The weather goes in stages. It's in the same pattern as it was in the 50's. Don't buy into the scare tactics.

Global warming is becoming more discredited by the day. It has been hijacked by ecowarriors and people selling an agenda. Which is why most scientists now refer to Climate Change which is much more accurate and gets away from the grossly exagerated claims made by the GW fans.
The UN will publish a report in the new year cutting back all the doom and gloom forecasts by 25% but also halving the projected increase in sea levels by half!
Global warming as a stand alone theory was first modeled by Southampton University back in 1980. Whilst the warming the model suggested worked there were too many areas that were cooling. Man made effects are a much smaller part of the picture as the UN is about to say.
Scientists recognise that the same amount of rain is falling but just in different places causing floods in one area and droughts in another.
The thermohaline ocean current has slowed and changed, The Southern Hemisphere westerly winds have moved southward in the last 30 years.
The main cause of the melting of ice sheets has been a strengthening in warm westerly winds blowing on to the peninsula. This melts surface ice which seeps through cracks thereby forming blocks. There is natural water under the ice which acts as a lubricant when the block is released to allow it to slide away.
That throughout Earths history there has been a natural sequence where one area warms whilst another cools.
Even the story on polution is being stupidly spun. The Ozone hole has repaired a lot better than predicted and is currently seasonaly stable. Methane in the upper atmosphere has been stable for the last seven years!
There are irrefutable dangers in pollution. We need alternate fuels, better more ecenomical designs, recycling and a whole host of other things but the greatly exagerated claims are damaging the case for change and definitely not helping!
Global Warming has become a rallying cry for ecowarriors with closed minds bent on proving man is destroying the planet whilst they refuse to debate the truth. No wonder the United States politicians refuse to believe it! Not only are the models for GW suspect but GW supporters take Climate Change data and projections and greatly exagerate them. Hence the UN changes about to correct them!
The best thing for the planet would be to dump the term Global Warming completely and refer instead to the warming effects associated with Climate Change.
Hot heads, exageration, setting out to prove a point and closed minds are all destroying the message that there is a need to act. People and indeed governments are being put off!
The world deserves better. We need open minds, good scientific research and assesments, honest debate and the will to work together and be believed. Climate Change is starting to do that but it won't succeed if the GW exagerations continue so I strongly believe that the term Global Warming should be abandoned as soon as possible.

Anyone can dispute global warming its fairly easy. The fact is the earth is warming up, but it is not caused by people. 400 years ago we were in the "Little Ice Age". Now we're warming up. The earth itself inhales and exhales on a much broader scale than a 70 year life span species can easily appreciate. We do not understand the world enough to be able to "save" it. All the theories, computer models and everything else we come up with do not change facts.
There are well over 160,000 glaciers on earth, how many are melting?
The temperatures in the central Antarctic are getting colder and the coasts warmer, so what?
Anyone who believes this planet is overpopulated is a fool at best, "sustainability" has been around for 200 years, created by Malthus, and hasn't proven correct yet. Besides why does the government pay farmers not to plant crops if we can't feed everyone. Yes, that is a true fact.
As for species extinctions no one knows how many species are on this planet, they have estimates and no matter how good an estimate is it is still a guess. New species are found every day. If you didn't know how much money you had how could you possibly know if some got stolen?
There is too much we don't understand about our world and the media and politicians are always looking for something to scare us with, they direct our attention to what they want instead of concentrating it on what we should be doing. We should recycle, we should help the homeless, abused familes, etc and find peace in the Middle East and other areas of the world. We should work on creating a better world for all of us to live in.

I agree with you but I think a part of the problem is that too many people feel that there is some sort of supernatural being who has chosen us in his likeness to plunder the earth and that everything that happens is as he has planned. You only have to look at the way some American Presidential candidates go after the religious vote with such fervour. Combine that with corporate support and you have a recipe for doing nothing. I can only assume that things will have to get worse and just hope it will not be too late.
By the way I am Australian and our Prime Minister is another who is in total denial on this one. He will admit to there being a problem but refuses to do anything if it has an adverse effect on business. Best wishes for Christmas.

It's B.S. Climate changes are cyclical, how come the polar ice caps are melting on Mars ? does it have global warming too ? (I'm sure that Al Gore, A.K.A "the wooden one" will save that as well too) I've taken many E.S. courses and meteorology as well, show me proof, and I'll show you twice as much counter proof, how come when a volcano erupts spewing 80 billion tons of toxic, and GREEN HOUSE GASSES (CO2) (much more than all of the internal combustion engines in the world together at once), NOTHING HAPPENS TO OUR CLIMATE ???????

Global warming is one symptom of a bigger problem: overpopulation of the planet.
Edit: Whoa! How can anyone say it is not real? The Arctic Ice Cap used to be frozen solid, fifty years ago. Now it is breaking up and melting. The same is true of glaciers. You who say it is not real have your head buried in the sand.

I absolutely agree. Those who continue to deny that global warming is occuring are shirking the responsibility they have to help save the Earth.

I concur. What more evidence do they need. weve been getting level 4 typhoons now and before we only get mild level 1-2 weather disturbances. What more evidence is stonger than human death?
