Does anyone know any enviormental issues in the Bay Area(California)? We are doing a year long project on it, we need 25 hours of commuinty serivces associted with this project with a supervisor and it needs to be something done about this enviromental topic issue.
So far Littering, Water Pollution, Batteries, Recyling, Invasive Plants has been taken.
The topics we need to choose should be something I can do about it in a local place.(If so where)

They say that the Sun heats up the Earth, and the pollutants reflect the heat back down into Earth, causing it to gradually get warmer. If these pollutants really are reflecting the heat back to Earth, why aren't they reflecting the heat away as well? Shouldn't the pollutants reflect the same amount of heat away as they reflects back in?

I think we should use solar engery & other things. we should also have a wind fram in the ocean.. who cares if it dosent look pretty. I will still be alive and dont want to go into another ice age or have water cover more than 1/3 of the plant. So i say lets use renewable rescourse because no one want to die in the next 50 year thanks to golble warming .I also think it would be better so we have no more or less polution. So we dont kill any animals any more....

The other day I was watching this program that talked about Columbia disaster and if it have been caused by some flying space junk. And they said it was not very probable because solar activity in prior year(s) was higher than normal, which caused atmosphere level to raise and scrape lots of that junk. And yet we don't here about that when Global Warming is discussed. Something like that for sure could be responsible for hurricane intensity, but it is also never mentioned. So what's up with that?

Water flows down the plug-hole in the direction it is introduced into a sink or drain. The effects of Coriolis - when the rotating earth causes the winds to deflect to the right in the northern hemisphere and the left south of the equator - it is too weak to affect your bath or toilet! Can you think of any more myths to blow?

There are evidence of rising temperatures and melting glaciers, and nobody cares about it. There is more insterest in Britney showing herself without panties than this issue, that is going to kill thousands in near future.

Global warming has been proven by scientists who spend their lives doing research in the field. There is a general agreement among the scientific community that the world is taking a turn for the worse, and you will not find any reputable scientist in the field who disagrees. These are the smartest people in the world, and they all agree.

So why do ordinary people with no scientific background (except for maybe taking Jr. High Biology) claim to know everything there is to know about global warming? Why do they insist on making up facts and statistics? I recall someone on Fox News making fun of Stephen Hawking for saying that global warming would eventually end our existence on Earth. In essence, he was saying that Stephen Hawking was dumb.

Why does this stuff get politicized? Why is it so important to so many people that the overall health of the planet and ecosystem should be fully ignored?

I am scared for myself, but esp. for my children(i will have my first little girl in may) and my future grandchildren if we don't straighten up. Our beautiful planet is being harmed by so many things. Carbon emissions are causing global warming but most ppl don't care enough to try to change the way they live and help the envoironment. If u don't know about this issue, PLEASE research it before u say it isn't true. And if u care, what r u doing in ur life to help us and the earth? I am a vegetarian for many reasons, including that cattle cause a HUGE amount of carbon emissions. I also drive a little Geo that gets like 40 or 50 miles a gallon when i cannot walk. And i prefer to use products like organic dish liquid and electricity-saving lightbulbs that last for ages. What do you do??
