That is true. If you pick up a rock (a mass) and hold it over your head, your arm is working against the force of gravity. So the rock above your head now has potential energy. When you let go the rock falls with kinetic energy (giving energy back to gravity on the way down).
It hits the ground with bump and makes a dent and produces a tiny amount of heat and moves bits of earth around which is roughly the the same amount of energy your arm put in.

Most of the energy we use every day comes from fossil fuel (coal and oil). When this is all used up we will need to find something to replace it or we will be in big trouble.
The Sun also gives us energy but it is difficult
(and expensive) for us the harness it.
............
There is a certain finite amount of energy and mass in the Universe. Energy is equivalent to mass by Einstein's famous formula E=MC^2.
(Energy = Mass times the Speed of light squared).
This is what happens in the sun, atoms (actually the nuclei) of Hydrogen are fused together to form Helium. When doing so a tiny amount of mass is not needed and is converted into pure energy.
The speed of light is such a big number that this tiny amount of mass produces a Huge amount of energy.

If the system was perfect, no energy would be lost. But when energy is transfered, some will always inevitably be lost to the surroundings (ie through sound, heat ect). Keep in mind though that there is always a constant amount of energy in the universe... so when you "lose" energy its just being redistributed elsewhere in the universe. Energy can only truely be destroyed in nuclear reactions... but that is already beyond me.

well there are many forms of energy, and many of them it is harder for us to pull the energy from them to use for whatever.
kinetic
Gravational potential
Electic potential
Magnetic potential
Thermal potential
chemical potential
elastic potential
nuclear potential
energy continues to move from each of these different forms and we have or try to have different ways of using energy from each of its from. for example, we try to use the kinetic energy from the wind and turn it into electic energy using wind mills. a problem with that is some of the energy goes into heat energy during the process. usually during all energy transformations, some of the energy goes to another type so it is impossible for us to use the same energy and put it into storage or constantly resuse it. we try to do that with chemical energy but there is a limit to how far one can get.
i hope that answered your question, if u didn't get some of the details, feel free to email me or im me.

LOL! Sorry I don't mean to laugh! Your teacher is talking about energy that humans or objects release.

Energy Mortgage is when you use your house mortgage to buy better energy efficient products for your home to save money on utilities and whatnot in your house.

If you meant "energy shortage"... then this answer will make sense...

The energy shortage is what is beginning to happen because more and more energy is being used all over the world due to the increased of use of electrical devices, the increased use of automobiles in China, and other reasons. We need to increase our energy production to try and keep up with the demand.

if you use too much energy, you cause problems from the harmful biproducts, such as CO2 and the fact that you could be wasting it and causing the price to rise or just use it all up before an alternative is in place.....Physics tells us that nothing can disappear, but what it turns into may not be to your liking

when any energy is lost it is immediately handed over to the lord, didn't you know that already

energy is not destroyed but it can be made into an unusable form. or it can be spread out so as to be unusable to us.
