I am a first year teacher. Some days are good and some are bad, and usually when they're bad, they're REALLY bad. I'm just wondering if there are any other teachers out there with more experience than me who can give me some insight on how they bounce back after one of those terrible days. Sometimes I can't bear the thought of getting up in the morning and dragging myself to work. Other times, it's a joy, but what do I do on those days when I have no energy for my job? How do you get through those days?

I'm making a review for my AP world class. The idea is that I will play a song and they will brainstorm all of the things they can think of that are associated with the event. For example: Istanbul by They Might be giants. (they can take obout the end of the byz. empire in 1453, etc.) The only other song I think of is Henry the 8th by Herman and the Hermits. Any Ideas????

I'm applying for a teaching position in a Public School. The district has a certificated salary schedule with different salary steps for teachers. I have my B.A.( Bachelor of Arts) plus 117 units. Am I qualified for pay range 5 or do I need to have a prerequisite of a certain amount teaching years to qualify?

Ex. Range 1 with just a BA is $39,000, Range 2 with a BA + 15 units is $43,000, Range 3 with a BA + 30 is $47,819....and Range 5 is BA + 60 units at $48,369 a year.

I am doing a lesson plan for Kindergarteners using the Georgia Standards. The standard is the students will explain how money is used to purchase goods and services. A. Distinguish goods from services.
I am setting up a market place in the classroom to demonstrate this. I am setting up 3 places that sells goods and 3 places that offer services. I have 3 ideas for goods but I can only come up with 2 for services- a bank and a telephone company. Does anyone have any ideas for what I could have for the 3rd business? Keeping in mind that this is for kindergarteners and they will need to be familar with the type of business.

I am returning to school to switch careers to teaching. I wonder how teachers would compare the stress and exhaustion of teaching to what I currently deal with?

I commute 2 hrs to get to work. After 3 yrs, I am at the midway point of my career, and I've been bored the whole time. I hate that I give so much of myself for a job that isn't interesting or challenging, and what I do doesn't make a difference to anyone except the shareholders. At the end of my 8-hr day, I commute another 2 hrs to get home, and I often bring work home with me. I'm so exhausted and drained by the time I get home, that I have no energy to enjoy my family or hobbies. All jobs even remotely related to my career seem the same.

Teachers...would you say that your stresses are significantly greater than what I currently deal with? Would you trade your stresses for mine?

I was wondering what the requirements were for the follwoing... I know they may differ by state, but a general idea would be helpful =)

-Student teacher
-Teacher's assistant
are there any more opportunities to sit in on classrooms etc during early college years? and how would I go about doing that?

I was also wondering if you are given the choice as to where you would like go or if you're able to choose the teacher in which you'd like to be your mentor

Thank you for the help =)
