Fav grade: 11th. They are just nicer than the rest.
Fav. Subject: I loved teaching American Literature, especially the Crucible. They really got into it. I also enjoyed teaching "Bless Me, Ultima." It gave the Hispanic students a chance to help everybody.
Creative writing was great too because I love to write and I love awakening that love in others.
I taught in a high school in a suburb of Houston.
I became a teacher because my parents did not have adequate education. Mom was totally illiterate. Plus I wanted to give back. I consider it my missionary job. The kids need teachers who care. Too bad administrators don't.

I teach high school mathematics, and so far my favorite area to teach is geometry. Not only do I get to work with numbers, but it's easy to tie in art projects and be creative with the kids. I also love doing and teaching proofs. I've developed methods that make proofs easy for kids and I love it when they finally get it!
I teach in the Mississippi Delta...one of the poorest areas of the nation. Sometimes it's like a third world country down here! A lot of my students have no running water and most of my HIGH SCHOOL students are at a 3rd grade reading level. It's very discouraging sometimes.
I became a teacher, because I felt like I've been given so much that I wanted to do something beneficial and help other people. What better way to do that then be a teacher?

I am not a teacher yet, but I am going to school to become one. I want to teach 1st grade because...1. They are not old enough to want to rebel. 2. This is the time when their brain development is at its height. 3. No major test taking in this grade. 4. Easily amused(easy to come up with activities). 5. I love younger kids in general, but if you don't this is not for you. I was a tutor for a year, and I loved it! You just need to try it out as a sub, etc. before making any major decisions. Good luck!

I teach Junior High Latin. I love 7th graders! They are still kids at heart, but I don't have to teach them all day, like in an elementary school. 8th grade studens tend to be really into themselves, so I don't like them quite as much.
I teach in a Catholic school in MN.
I decided to be a teacher because it's always new and exciting. It's also great to do a job that feels like you're actually doing something for the future. I love working with kids and helping them learn to like learning.

My favorite grade is 9th. My favorite subject is Chemistry/Physics. 9th graders are grown-up enough to be fun but not enough to be cynical. They can work independently. They catch my jokes.
I teach in Texas
I became a teacher because I wanted to share.

I like senior English - I love British lit and the kids are old enough to "get" jokes and laugh with and have a fun class. They also tend to understand consequences better. I teach in West Virginia. (20 years)
