I don't like coming straight home after school either. Join a club. Go for a bike ride. Hang around a book store for a while. Just doing something else for a while is nice.

Volunteer to be a candy striper at your local hospital. A candy striper is someone who helps the nurses with their tasks, brings magazines and other items to the patients and chats with them if they get lonely. It will give you immense satisfaction, introduce you to a wonderful career possibility down the road, expand your world by bringing all different people into it, and it will also reflect well upon you when it comes time to list your extra curricular activities on a college application. I did it and it beats babysitting or watching TV.
