I teach fourth grade and his year our budget was cut so we cannot take many field trips. I want my students to experience many things, and there is one place in particular I think they will really benefit from. I'm looking for ways to raise money. If you know a good way please share how it worked for you. Thanks!

If the district will allow it - sell candy. If not, hold a talent show - allow anyone in the community to audition (so you can censor those that are inappropriate for your school). The "dress rehearsal" could be held during your school hours, and you can charge students and faculty $1.00 to get out of class to watch it. That night or the next night could be the real show held for parents and community - charge $2.00 or whatever you think will fly. Offer trophies for prizes - they don't cost a lot. Or you could use part of your profit to give monetary prizes. Encourage all ages and all kinds of acts - magicians, music (vocal and bands), comedians (be sure to censor those), comedy skits, etc.
Here's one that raised almost $700 for me - have three male teachers volunteer or three female teacers- the "winner" has to dress up like Elvis and lip sync "Jailhouse Rock" (or whatever) in front of the whole student body. Put jars out in the cafeteria (and the community) - it's a penny a vote, and the person with the most money in his/her jar "wins." THAT was FUN!!!
