Mythology? I took a class on it in high school and it was fascinating. It's so entertaining to read. Not like funny entertaining, just... I guess fascinating. Am I alone? And does anyone know if you can actually major in this in college? Since I'm sure it's not true and the only use you would get out of a degree in Mythology would be teaching it.

He's not in daycare right now, and I want to take advantage of being able to give him a solid reading and math background before he starts Kindergarten in Fall 2008. Any suggestions for a highly-active little boy? I want to teach him to sit still, but I also want to incorporate learning into play.

I'm curious to get some information about teaching in the San Diego area, or southern California in general.

Are jobs hard to come by? What about as art or English teachers at a high school level, or teaching at an elementary level? How long were you in school for to obtain certification for teaching?

In general, what you are thoughts and opinions on teaching?

I have been teaching preschool and first grade rather than sixth grade and they sent me to this grade for higher pay under a choice and I said yes to that choice. I do not know which form of math is taught. The four forms is what I mean.

Division
Multipication
Addition
Subtraction
and Square Routes?

Hi - I need an editorial or speech or something - modern! - to illustrate the use of rhetorical devices and strategies to my 11th graders. Does anybody have any ideas? Leonard Pitts will work, I suppose, or MLK, but I'd like to have more ideas to draw from.

Thanks.

Ok I try to be open minded but I really don't like having biased extremists teaching my classes. If you're an extremist, you're WRONG. End of story. And those conspiracy theorists are a riot. It's amazing how little qualifications you need to teach a class these days. We're supposed to be getting an education, not marijuana-induced ideals. I believe in tolerance and an open mind, but there needs to be LIMITS. We can't lose sight of common sense, morality, and touch with the real world. I believe extremists and radicals belong in the recording studio, not in the classroom.

I'm really worried about controlling the class. I also plan on substituting while I'm getting my bachelor's degree. What are some ways middle school teachers control their class? What are some ways you punish the students & get them to listen or at least pretend they are interested in class? I love this age & can't wait to start teaching, but I know how pre-teens can be. My middle child is almost 12. Thanks for your help!

I got some students who always talk to others, play, sing, etc. That is because they are BORED. I know Calculus is a very rigid subject, it accepts no shorcuts. I try to make it easier so everyone can undersand it the same. But I got to teach it other way, I still can't find it.

Currently I'm having a practical training in high school - I study literature comparative and now I'm preparing to be a literature teacher. Everything seems easy cause I study at the best universityin the country, but... I'm a bit confused. This is a very good school (actually - I used to go there when I was younger;))), my supervisor is really requiring and generally... I would like to impress everyone leading my classes;) What do you reccomend? How to present literature to them so that these lessons would be interesting, full of inspiration for them and of course showing that I'm a good teacher?
