A nice card with the students picture or an ornament with the students name and date on it.

Seriously, nothing! Or a sincere thank you note if I've done something you appreciate. I keep all the notes and all the pictures and things that kids have done for me or given me, but everything else has faded from my memories.
Once in elementary, the room moms arranged a high directors chair and had all the kids put their handprints on it in fabric paint. The same thing could work with a high stool.
Or a gift certificate to anywhere (local teacher store or office supply store or craft store would be useful, nice local restaurant would be fine.
But again, NOTHING. Write a thank you note or a Christmas card and I'll be happy.

Honestly? That they continue to do hard work and pass the class. But if you really want to get them something, a card or a picture of the student. I gave my middle school teacher a picture of me back in 1987, and I saw her years later. She still had the picture, and I thought that was so cool. Now that I am a teacher, I will keep all of my students' pictures. Who know who I may see in the future.

although I do receive gifts, I prefer not to.I do give an anonymous gift card to a student that I know they will not receive much during the season.I tell the student that the gift was from someone who cared or will ask another teacher to give it to them for me.

Anything that comes from the heart. A simple christmas card is plenty, but if you wanted to get something more, make it personal and unique.

Gift certificate to craft store or teacher store...thanks for asking, most people only give mugs with corny sayings written on it and I don't even drink coffee or tea. :)

dry erase markers, hole puncher, pencil sharpener, glue sticks, color pencils, ink cartridges, basically school supplies, a good percent of my pay check goes towards buying supplies for my classroom, so any school supplies would make me happy.
