Hello,

I'm starting high school this fall, is there a big change in how the students change from being immature to mature... I know there is still some immature students there but do most of them change......Like 10 11 12 graders . I know the freshman year some students might be alittle crazy. But do they mature?

Thanks

When I was at school I was just simply hated, by some of the girls for not looking as monstrous as they did! It didnt bother me cos it didnt get out of hand and I could take care of myself but I know some who had a really hard time! What happened to you and how did you get over it? xx

I live in rural Oklahoma. The elementary, middle, and high school are all on the same campus. Of everyone I have met, no one really cares about their education. And the teachers that care about teaching are afraid to bend the rules, they are afraid to demand the things they should have for their class. Besides 4H, there are no clubs. The school barely has any funding. The students are not allowed to have their laptop at school. The kids have no idea what it is like to actually want to come to school.

Or are you diappointed by the lack of knowledge displayed by the youth of today considering the wealth of reference material that is available on the internet!
Personally speaking I believe that some of the exams are not challenging enough for some of the enquiring minds out there and the less intelligent (yes we do exist) are too easily pigeon holed into having issues with learning !

When I was in middle school, a teacher assigned us a book on domestic violence. This would have been a book that was in publication prior to 1994 definitely and more than likely prior to 1992.

I have searched for years (amazon and google) and I'd like to use it for teens likely to enter abusive relationships. The book is written on one side from her point of view. The girl is in high school and what her experiences/emotions were while dating this guy. Then you flip the book over to the back cover. That side is written His Story. How he entered the blind rage and couldn't stop if he wanted to, how he needed therapy.

It was written as if a true story, kind of diary format, from a teenage perspective. It is probably less than 100 pgs and must contain both his side and her side. The earliest it would have been published is 1985s, latest 1994.

Eights say “good bye” to there elementary school after the graduation and soon look forward to saying “hi” to high school. But are they really ready to step into a whole new life?

On July 26th at 7pm was when that was “it” for the Bernard eights. They had to go up the stage and get the certificate they were waiting for since grade 1. But as soon as the moment was there all of a sudden a lot of grade eights did not want to graduate. Was it because they were going to not see a lot if there friends? And that they will have to make new friends? Or was it because of the change it will be, academicly? The graduation had been a normal grad,
Although a lot og the graduates did not like it at all.

A girl had said that here friends and her had agreeded that the graduation was not exactly what they had imagened it to be. Another student had said

I was wondering if I should take an independent study course next year in either French or Russian. I am going to be in eighth grade, with two english and math freshman classes. I took an IQ test last year and have a verbal IQ of 137. I'm also a capable straight A student. The course is set up so that if I start in September I have a whole year to finish. I would get high school credit for it. However, my schedule is pretty hectic and I don't know how I would handle another class. But if I do this course I could be a college sophmore by the time I graduate. Don't ask me how this works, it's just something my school counselor told me. In addition to my regular classes (there are eight of those), I'm taking the following extracurriculars:
Piano
Choir
Voice Lessons (probably)
Vollyball
Youth Group
So should I take the course or not? My parents said if I thought I could handle it I probably could, but I wanted to get someone else's perspective.

I feel I'm behind everyone else academically, I graduated high school last year in 2006, I'm 19, almost 20, I just finished my first year at community college but I did horrible, I was on Academic Probation both semesters, I only gained 3 passing units, when I took the placement test last summer I didn't do well on it & it put me Math 010 & English 098, which are low-level classes, which means I got a while to go & I haven't passed any of them yet. I have A.D.D., which is a reason why I struggle in Academics, & I was in Special Ed. throughout Middle School & first 2 years of High School, but not all my classes were Special Ed., basically Math & English. My parents said the reason I was put in Special Ed. in the first place is because they thought it would help me socially, because I have Asperger Syndrome, & the Special Ed. classes didn't have that many students, but I felt I didn't learn anything because I struggle today to write essays & do math or homework on my own.
