I have one major problem with school uniforms/standardized dress codes.
Once a school institutes such a policy, they have basically two options: ignore it when a student breaks the dress policy, which defeats the purpose; or remove the student from the educational setting, be it detention, in school or out of school suspension.
I think it is ridiculous to deprive students of learning opportunities because of the way they are dressed.

I'm against.
How you dress - is who you are.
We used to get detentions or suspended if there was one tiny thing out of place.
Which is just a bit pathetic because how you look does not affect how you learn. Except if you look bad...
I think they should give more choice.
Rather than hideous blazers. Uncomfortable shirts. Making guys wear long trousers in the summer........ Girls weren't aloud to wear t-shirts under thin white shirts.
They should have a colour code. And leave it at that.
Like a black lower half and then a certain colour upper half.
And the rest - the TYPE of clothing should be up to the student.
As for being identified with a school...
Doesn't really work if there are four other schools in the town with almost identical uniforms.....

I am for it. As a former teacher I can say that this policy was put in place a long time ago so that what the children wore was 'uniform' regardless of the family's economic circumstances - it is classless.
This certainly saves hassles in terms of parents and children not having to keep up with the latest in trendy gear, and there is no need to wonder what to wear school days. there is also no sense of competition to outdress other children.
It identifies the child as attending a particular school and can instill a sense of belonging and pride that they attend that particular school .

Although kids mostly disagree I think it's good if it's done properly.
Uniforms can reduce the distractions to kids of trying to be "fashionable" and it can also help with the gang problems. Also, simple, reasonably priced uniforms can lower the costs faced by parents trying to clothe their kids for school.
I would not favor the fancy uniforms favored by Catholic schools, but simple matching pants and skirts and shirts.
It would also help reduce some of the problems of unwanted campus visitors.
This should be a decision made by school boards and school administrators, not applied by Federal or State government, and it should be applied if police or other authorities advise that it is necessary or advisable.

i could be for it. right this is why, the quantity of time that babies waste status in front of a replicate making particular their shirt is excellent in order that, their pants are excellent in order that, their hats (which should not be on in a development) are in simple terms so is ridiculous. when I walk down the corridor i contemplate whether babies definitely somewhat look at what they appear like interior the replicate particularly than the kind call they are wearing. particularly from the back...fat rolls excellent over the tops of too tight denims, the place shirts do no longer conceal it (if the shirt covers it interior the front, it could no longer have adequate cloth to conceal it interior the back), underclothes protruding (girls and boys), cleavage excellent out (no longer all of it belongs swaying interior the breeze) and a superb kind of cases the garments do in simple terms not extra wholesome maximum suitable and it seems undesirable. If there have been a typical that babies had to stay with there could be much less irrelevant gown and extra studying happening. there have been analyze carried out that even practice much less combating in college the place uniforms are required. call me an previous fuddy duddy, even though it could no longer be one among those undesirable factor!

I am for a unifrom policy in schools. It distinguishes students/
pupils from other schools. Also it looks neat wearing a school
uniform than not, because students tend to wear clothes not
fit for attending classes. It is also economical since there is
no need to think of what to wear the next day of classes. From
my elementary days up to the time I finish my college studies,
all theschools I attended required the wearing of uniforms
and I found it not to be boring or suffocating.

i am totally against it, which is one of the reasons why i am glad to be out of high school. in my school, we all had to wear blue bottoms and white tops. the code was so strict, we couldnt even wear any other color sweater but a white one when it was cold. they even were strict on what color shoe strings we would wear. we couldnt have any designs on our clothes. if we broke any of the rules, we'd get suspended for ten days.
now i know why they were strict on the clothes - some people belonged to gangs, and they would wear certain colors to clarify that - red was a BIG no no in school. but i go against it because not everyone wwas hoodlums and gangbangers. majority of the people came to school to learn and actually cared about their educations. when they suspended people for 10 days, it got me mad because i felt that the board of education cared more about what we wore than what went into our brains. they were so focused that micky mouse was on someone's shirt, meanwhile we're learning elementary school material - ridiculous.
it also took away the students' rights for free expression. no one wants to dress like everybody else these days. we have our own stlyes, and just as long as no one comes to school looking totally outrageous, we should be able to express ourselves as individuals.

I am for it. Our district will be going to it this fall. The way the students dress is horrendous. Maybe if they didn't dress this way and would just follow the dress code, we wouldn't have to go to a uniform. Btw, the teacher are going to a stricter dress code as well. And, I am for that, too.

I went to a school once where we had it. I didn't mind it. I see good and bad to it. It causes loss of individuality, but at the same time people who become obsessed with how great their clothing looks for others instead of just wearing something they like to wear piss me off.
