Some religious schools in US and UK are banning a top selling kids book because it contains the word scrotum (this is name of the skin that surrounds the testes in case you where in doubt). This comes a few years after two other top selling childrens books, Harry Potter books and His Dark Materials, where banned why many religious schools for promoting the idea of non-christian ideals.

Do you think that schools, local councils and states should allow to ban any book? I can understand why books with strong adult content may be banned but being banned for using medical terms or for introducing other faith systems seems a bit like mini facism. What are your veiws on this? Would really love to hear from people who attend/work in a school that has banned a book.

I am interesting in going back to school for photography and art. I have looked at both courses, but not sure which one will benefit me more. I would love to start from drawing and work my way up. Anyone have advice on this.......?

What do you think of these. It is mainly for fund raising for the schools, but I think it is a way that parents can "lobby " the schools and throw their weight around by the money they give. And bully teachers as well.
Does the UK have this? what do you think of it?

I am writing a report on how to improve communication with parents throughout the school year. How do we engage them and inform them of the choices their children make and face throughout their secondary education?
What do parents feel is important to them when schools communicate with them?
Who else should the school be communicating with?
What links should we encourage?
How can we support parents?
What are the student's needs in all this?
All information will be gratefully received

My boyfriend and I argue continuosly about how our children education will be. He is for public and I am for private. His whole arguement is that I am shielding them from the realworld and that there is danger and hatred everywhere. I want them to go to private schools so they can wear uniforms teachers are more focused on giving them a good education and many of the school shooting have scared me. I went to public and so did he but my last two years of high school i home school online because school violence had gotten ridiculous and senseless

You were told in Secondary or High School that you would not be learning how to read Shakespere because you were too dumb.

Believe it or not, that is what some schools are doing. They are refusing to teach the students how to read Shakespere because they think the students are too dumb. So they will teach the students how to read web pages.

What is you opinion on this?
