Absolutly my mother homeschooled me for three years and the following year, my ninth grade year, i got a 4.0 for two of the four quarters that year. I have been on the honor roll for two of the quarters this year.
If you are seriously thinking of starting to homeschool. I would recommend to use Calvert Schools for grades 1-8 if in a higher grade than there are alot of great online homeschooling programs to use!
These programs are very successful and I know alot of people that have gone to very creditable colleges and are very smart. Many get full ride scholarships and can pick which ever college they want!
So however old your children whether you would homeschool them to college or let them off in high school they would be plenty prepared for either.
Hope this Helps!

It has it's plus and minuses. I home-schooled my twins for six months. It's hard to find the materials to use unless you are going with a strictly "christian" program. And in that case they will only get the information that the "christian church" wants them to have and not so much the reality of what's out there. ie: Darwinism, evolution, etc.
You can protect them from influence of gangs and so forth...that is true. But at some point in their lives they will have to face the horrors and ugliness of life.
I don't recommend it unless you are REALLY up to the task. And it really depends on what age and grade level. Or do you plan to home school all the way through high school.
My next door neighbor home schooled 11 (yes that's eleven) kids. Then they went to work for their Dad's business. It worked for them. Of course she was on Valium all the time.
If you have your your own family business and they don't expect to become scientists or astrophysicists then you shouldn't have any problems. Otherwise it will be hard to go from homeschooling to a regular college atmosphere for advanced education.

There are some reasons why I think yes. I mean there is a lot of violence in schools these days. However, I think it is better not to because part of growing up is being out there in the world, interacting with other people all day without family around and making decisions and making friends at school. I think that is done best when kids actually go to school. I think that whole public interaction best prepares kids for life in the real world.
