Hi all, I am a graduate student seeking a proof reader/editor to edit my papers (grammar and language structure).

I understand that professional editor usually request $50, even $80 dollars an hour (am I wrong about this?) But I'd like to hear from people what their opinions are on a reasonable pay rate for someone to look at 5 pages or 20 pages paper. How much should a client pay?

My friend, who is 20 years old right now, didn't go to college. When she was in the 9th grade, she started independent study, with out acctually studying; she failed high school. Now she is learning english and hopes that she can get a high school diploma after she learns how to speak english well. So, my question is: even though she failed high school and probably knows as much as an 8th grader, can she still study and get a diploma? If so, where? She currently lives in San Diego.
Thanks in advance.
