I was caned twice once on the hand and once on the backside. I learnt my lesson.
I dont think it should be brought back but a more severe punishment is required in schools today instead of all this pc nonesense. How about putting them in stocks.

I didn't get the cane, but I did get a ruler across the open palm of my hand - for vomitting up 'force fed' tapioca (I've since found out I have a dairy foods sensitivity) after the teacher stood over me in the dining hall - infront of all my friends - and told me none of us would be allowed out to play if I didn't eat it all. I was only 7 or 8 at the time. Other kids at school got the slipper,beltor cane, depending on the teacher. Bad - humiliating - ABUSIVE

No not caned but I was the last person at my junior school to get the slipper before all those types of punishments were abolished, I'm 32 now so it was some 21/22 years ago!

I was never caned in school, however I was sent a time or two to see the male gym teacher to receive several swats from a long wooden paddle nickname the board of education. This method was acceptable punishment for deviant behavior in school before the social workers and liberals caused school policy to change.

The girls were never caned at school but the boys were. Girls used to get the ruler, but i was good, i never got it. If anything I was the brunt of the bully. One lad got caned for kicking me in the stomach during a teachers absence.
I also think they should bring it back and teach the buggers a lesson or too. there's no disipline anymore.

I wasn't caned but I remember a teacher getting caned and he was one of those people that always drove you up the wall 'do this, do that' so everyone laughed. Now as you get older it doesn't seem funny but if it was your worse enemy who wouldn't laugh?

Oh yes, spent a lot of time nursing sore hands having been caned, hurt like hell but didn't stop me being an idiot throughout my school years.

When I was younger ( in Scotland we used to get the strap,2, or 3 fronged strap of leather), and I can tell you it hurt like hell,but you got hardened to it,only got caned a couple of times in school in England,as I used to laugh at how pathetic it was not forgetting cruel and barbaric it was,eventually they gave up on that type of punishment,taught me a few harsh lessons. Almost got the plimsole from one English teacher until I took it from his hands and chased him around his office asking how would he like some,He ran out, coward!! I wasn't really unruly just miss-understood and silly,as a youngster,always the clown,and the one in the firing line.

When i was about to be caned for walking on the grass
the Headmaster asked if there was any reason as to why
he should not cane me "yes sir its my eight birthday today"
with that i got six strokes on each hand.
i must admit i try not to walk on wet grass now!

lol. i was really mischevious in school. i've been caned so many times i cant remember the count now. not to mention i grew immune to caning.
