TRIMESTERS FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS!! Both high schools in my city have trimesters and the kids that goof off at the beginning of the year have chances to redeem themselves & they do! the superintendent is trying to switch to block, but trimesters are really the best option! Instead of the school year being divided into 2 parts, its divided into 3. 5 periods a day, 1 hr & 20 mins in each class. Its the best for everyone.

As the parent of two kids - one who graduated a year ago and one who will graduate in a year - They seem to like block schedules because that means they don't have to have classes they don't like every day. From a parent's point of view I think block schedules make more sense because everyone is in each class longer when they are there... it's hard to get much done in 50 minutes when there are no blocks.

Block because it offers variety. Say for example that you hate math, with regular schedulingyou have math every day, but with block scheduling, you only have it a few times a week. Besides it is closer to college scehdules and will prepare students for college.

Block for high school.
You can take more classes that way.
Debate class is really really important for all 9th graders to take. It teaches you to think on your feet.
With block scheduling, it is easier to include that class in your schedule.
