Check for an adult learning center or the local community college. Most places like these offer the test as well as prep classes if you need them. Often you will have to take a "pre" test to see if you are ready to take the actual GED exam. If you pass the pre test then you will be scheduled to take the real thing. Best of luck to you and kudos on your decision to go after your equivalency diploma.

I'm not sure about NYC, but where I live they didn't require any classes. I just went and took the test. Good Luck!

Call the board of Education or your local High school and they can tell you where to take the test, also the employment office or the welfare office could help you find out. Good luck I hope this helped

Just take it! That test is simple, I dropped out in 11th grade and passed with flying colors, I now have a 3.7 gpa in college. Don't feel bad that the government school you went to failed you, they fail many of us. Just take the test you'll do great!

You just need to call and take the test. You don't actually need it for much though. My friend was homeschooled and he never took the GED. He just graduated from college with a BS in Biology and is in a masters program- and still does not have a college degree :)
