To find out your gpa, add up the quality points for that semester, then divide by the number of credits to find gpa.
Oh and your "quality poitns" are the amount of credits for a given class, say, 4 credits, times the equivalent points for the grade you got: A is 4, A is 3.7, A- is 3.3, B is 3, etc.
So say you have three classes of 4 credits each, you got and A, a B-, and a B, gpa would be: [(4*4) + (3*2.3) + (3)]/12 total credits = gpa
so if you have a 2.0 gpa and 12 credits, work backwards to find what grade you need for a particular class to get a particular gpa.
Hope this helps!

you get 1 point for each credit, so with 3 classes worth 4 credits each you get 12. 4x3=12. Each a is worth 4 points. Each b is worth 3 points, c's are worth 2 points, d's are worth 1 point and f's are a big fat zero. So if you got all a's it would be 4x12=48. 4 points for each A times your credits. Then divide 48 by 12 and get 4.0. So to achieve a 2.0 you have to maintain a C average. Of course you can get a combination, but I don't want to confuse you.
