My youngest son has problems with reading comprehension. He is in the eighth grade and has to pass the final exam to progress to the ninth. He will read a video game magazine until the cover is shopworn, but can barely get through a chapter in a novel. He admits that he has a hard time with understanding what he reads on a test. I am currently printing exercises from some educational websites and he sails through them and can give me the idea of the paragraph. I am a "mature" student and trying to be a role model to him. What more can I do a parent to increase his interest and comprehension level?

The majority of people know that there was a conspiracy, but many will try to keep the truth away from you.

The following tactics are used to quiet anyone who attempts to expose any of your subversive acts about 9/11:
(when the 9/11 conspiracy is mentioned)
1. First, you ignore the charges, hoping the information will not be given widespread distribution.
2. If the information starts reaching too many people, you ridicule the information and the person giving the information. (For example: joke about being part of the conspiray, resort to name-calling.)
3. If that doesn't work, your next step is character assassination. If the author or speaker hasn't been involved in sufficient scandal, you are adept at fabricating a scandal against the person or persons.
4. If none of these are effective, you are known to resort to physical attacks.

I've studied spanish and italian all through highschool and college. I'm good at both but nowhere near fluent. I can't swing leaving the country for two years with the peace corps or anything yet, but I want to get some real world experience with both langauges and reach fluency sometime before I die.
I've heard of these intensive language programs abroad that put you through two weeks of study and you come out with a whole lot more competency than when you went in. Some people say, however, that this is a waste of money and I'd be better off backpacking like I usually do. What's your take?

Some people believe that calculators have eliminated the need to learn the skills required to perform mathematical operations by hand. State your position on this belief, and then support your position with real-life stories or examples.

1. Does punctuation go on the inside or the outside of brackets?
eg which is correct?
A- My car needs a new wishbone (part of the suspension).
B- My car needs a new wishbone (part of the suspension.)

2. When you are meaning "as well" do you use "to" or "too"
eg
A- I checked my brakes, which was a good job to, since I found they were faulty.
B- I checked my brakes, which was a good job too, since I found they were faulty.

nb This isn't homework, just something I've been thinking about.
