I am currently in Algebra one. I understand everything but not as fast as others. I have gotten very good grades on all of my homework but when It comes to a test I just cant get above a C . This is really hurting my grade. I have a quiz tomorrow. Does anyone have any Ideas of how I should be studying or does anyone have something they do that helps them before a test like makeing notecards?

Approach the test like you would a homework assignment. Look at each assignment in a teacher's view - pick out the main concept from each assignment. Write it down creating a list and then practice some examples from each concept. Write those down. Review those examples prior to taking the test. When the test comes - don't immediately start; sit back a moment and try to relax. Then fill in the test questions as they come easiest to your mind. Put the questions in a type of list, by the order of the concepts you learned. So instead of 1,2, 3 - maybe 5, 9, 7, 2 - Don't pressure yourself - let it flow. Stay relaxed.

In this short of a time frame you are just going to have to study the best that you can.

Talk with your teacher. Explain the kind of difficulty that you are experiencing. Get some suggestions there.

Find a tutor. Usually another student in a higher grade that has done well in the past can be found to help at not much cost. Parents should be pretty good about picking up the tab as long as you're serious about doing the work. If it doesn't click with one person, try another. Different people have different ways of teaching/learning. You need to find someone who can describe things so that they make sense to you.
