I'd like to become a psychologist. I'm currently 18 and in my first year of college. I plan to finish my bachelor's in four years. With this in mind, how old will I be after finally getting my PhD?

Hi I have a quick question, and I would really appreciate any answers that would help me out. I recently was dismissed from a university for poor grades. I took a semester off, and I have enrolled in a community college for this upcoming spring semester. I am ready to take school very seriously, but I hope it is not too late. I want to eventually go to law school. I want to know if my poor performance will prevent me from ever being able to gain admission to a law school or if there is still hope. Thank you to anyone who took the time to read/respond.

How serious would the consequences be if I wrote a bit more than that? (like around 800 words)

Ok, here's my situation,
All my final exams are over, but I still have 1 test remaining for philosophy class (class consisting of 9 mc tests, with no final exam). Just recently, I have torn my meniscus and too add to that I also have an existing genetic condition called osteochondromatosis. It is excruciatingly painful for me to walk, let alone physically travel to my university 1 hour away from my home.

I have expressed my concern to my professor, to see if anything can be done for me. He told me to contact the academic advisor, and ask for an incomplete in the course. My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, and the last day for the last test is this Wednesday, and assuming I will not have the energy to take the test, I will end up with a 78% in the course.

Should I take the Incomplete grade? Will this count as an F for medical schools? My other courses Chem, Math, and Physics are all well in the high 80's or low 90's. I am in my first year.

Any advices would be appreciated. Thanks

Ok, i live in Virginia. I got admission in Shenandoah University (pharmacy school in Virginia) for pre-pharmacy. two days ago i got a letter stating that i have amount due for 11,000 per semester. Here comes the problem, Neither me or my parent have good income. This amount is after my financial aid. school told me to take federal loan, but i am worried that if income is not good how am i going to pay back. I was thinkking about going to other college for pre pharmacy program because of financial situation. So if i go to other college does that mean i have less chance in future to get admission in pharmacy school at Shenandoah university. Please give me any information to pursue my education, your help is really appreciated.

Do I need an honors degree when applying to a top grad school? I havent enrolled in a honors program at uni, but i will still have an excellent GPA, many extracurricular activities at university, long volunteer experience, and even internships experience which related to my major well. is that good enough, and what else I have to do?
any advice is welcome, thanks.

I'm currently a junior in High School, and I'm CONSTANTLY worrying about that no colleges will accept me.
In 9th grade, I was on honor roll the whole year.
10th grade I was on honor roll for the 1st and 3rd quarter and the reason I wasn't on honor roll the other quarters is I had one too many C's.
Now in 11th grade, I'm struggling a bit... I didn't make it on honor roll the first quarter, but, I didn't get HORRIBLE grades. No F's or D's.

So, I really wanted to know if colleges will still accept non-straight A students... It's always on my mind and I have no one to talk about this since I'm the first child in my family to go to college..
Any comments will be awesome :D

Right now in Florida, it is VERY hard to get accepted into the University of Florida. I dont believe I can get accepted to it but I would like to get accepted into law school. Considering that right now, UF is the best college in the state and that I cant get into it, would that hurt my chances in getting accepted into law school? What about if I wanted to attend Florida State University, University of South Florida, etc. would they not care as long as I had the LSAT scores and good grades?

I earned a Ph.D. in a so-called "soft science". Outside of a college/university environment, I think addressing me as "professor" is as unnecessary as a civilian addressing a military person by their armed forced title. I wouldn't mind being addressed as "Dr.", but I prefer to be called by my first name, or "Mrs." or "Ms.". I think "Professor" is appropriate if I'm your college teacher. My mother is having a cow over this. I don't get it. I just prefer to reserve the title "Dr." for physicians. Am I the only one who feels this way?

I've heard of some universities banning the use of laptops in class, their argument being that students don't pay attention.

Laptops get the job done with ease and organization. As far as I'm concerned, *I* am paying for the class, and if the professor can't keep my interest, is that my fault? Opinions?

Stats: I live in Baltimore.
GPA = 4.1 (I think; I know my weighted average this quarter alone is 102.9%)
Ranked second in class
Maryland Distinguished Scholar
AP Scholar, and currently taking 4 more APs
Played violin for 9 years
Won an award for a poem
Have sold original paintings
Baltimore City Badminton Varsity champion
Irvine Nature Center rep for Maryland Alliance for Environmental and Outdoor Education Conference
Participate in monthly math contests
National Honor Society Secretary
(For interview) I am clean, articulate, polite, and I make direct eye contact.

My concern is that I haven't done anything "special". Do you think I'll get in?

My case is very special. I'm not an English native speaker but I'm interested in teaching English in America and also my major is TESL. I wonder how I can become an English teacher in universities. I know there are language schools in many universities. They have their own faculty whose majors are TESL or Linguistics. I asked my advisor the same question but she told me it's quite difficult since my native language is mandarin people may question my English proficiency. I'm now thinking about becoming a graduate teaching assitant next semester in the language school of my university. That's all I can do right now. I'm also thinking about taking some linguistics courses as my minor. Please give me some suggestion.
