Right now in Florida, it is VERY hard to get accepted into the University of Florida. I dont believe I can get accepted to it but I would like to get accepted into law school. Considering that right now, UF is the best college in the state and that I cant get into it, would that hurt my chances in getting accepted into law school? What about if I wanted to attend Florida State University, University of South Florida, etc. would they not care as long as I had the LSAT scores and good grades?

Law schools do look at the school you attended for your Undergraduate degree. But the Most important thing they look at is your LSAT score. Even more then GPA, law schools put a huge amount of emphasis on LSAT scores. After your scores they look at your GPA. After your GPA, they look at your activities and/or work experience. They like to see internships or volunteer activities or school involvement or just plain work experience. This shows that you are multi-dimensional and prepared for the large work-load of law school. After your experience they look at where you went to school. For example: If two people have the same GPA and same LSAT and their was only one slot left they might look at what school each person went to and make a decision based on that.

As long as you do well on the LSAT, maintain a good GPA, and get involved in school, the "prestige"/"reputation" of your school will not matter.

Top schools are preferred but in the long run as long you have an great gpa, an amazing LSAT score, and a great essay you should be fine.
