Hi I have a quick question, and I would really appreciate any answers that would help me out. I recently was dismissed from a university for poor grades. I took a semester off, and I have enrolled in a community college for this upcoming spring semester. I am ready to take school very seriously, but I hope it is not too late. I want to eventually go to law school. I want to know if my poor performance will prevent me from ever being able to gain admission to a law school or if there is still hope. Thank you to anyone who took the time to read/respond.

Since you are now enrolled in a community college, I can assume that you are still within your first two years of college. Therefore, you still have a chance, if you can show a dramatic change in your performance and do well on the LSAT (you cannot ignore transcripts and start over again - doing that would be seen as fraudulent and could get you kicked out as soon as they find out, which they will). You won't be able to get into a top school, but you can find a law school which will take you.

Your scores will be computed to all the colleges you attended, including the ones you flunked out in. So your hopes of Harvard and Yale are probably over. But there are many other schools that will offer a great education and a very rewarding career other than those two. If you messed up your first couple years, came back and did very well, scored high on the LSATs you'll get admitted into a good school. You can explain your earlier academic shortcomings in your personal statement. Right now you need to focus on doing very well in community college to get you admitted into a university in order to get a Bachelor's degree

you might want to completely disregard those transcripts and start from scratch...cuz if you flunked out...chances are, that'd hurt you pretty badly
