i know that most people apply for college early in their senior year but could i apply after 1 semester of my senior year or apply after i graduate for the next year so that my gpa will be higher? is this a bad idea

Do I have to stay there, or can my credits transfer after one year? I really don't want to go to a community college for two years (not that there is anything wrong with them, but I want what a regular university offers more).

All right I'm at Michigan State right now, and I want to transfer to University of Michigan because they have a better Computer Science program.

The thing is Michigan's requirements to transfer there is very competitive and there's a lot to do. Here's the requirements:

http://www.engin.umich.edu/admissions/undergraduate/transfer/external/

Also, Michigan State's Computer Science program, you do not have to take Chemistry, and you need 3 semesters of math. Michigan requires Chemistry and 4 semesters of math. And jeez, you need a frickin' 3.5 GPA to get in?! State's only 3.0!

http://admissions.msu.edu/admission/transfer_limitedEnrollment.asp#engineering

I'm a freshman in my first semester. The thing is, I don't want to take courses that I don't need for Michigan State, what if I don't get my transfer? I would waste a course of Chemistry and a semester of math when I could be doing something else.

What should I do? At the moment, I'm just waiting for my grades to see if I can even go

I heard if u take 2years at a community college u can transfer to a university. How exactly does this work? Does taking the 2years automatically gets u into a university?

I know that I should be involved in extra curricular activities, and my test scores should be really good, but is there anything else I am really missing. (or even the little things) i really want to get into NYU, but I am just a little concerned about what they expect from me as a student. (besides being motivated, and hard working)

In high school, you can take the same test at a later date. In college, do you have that opportunity? Or is it just that if you're absent on that day, you missed the test and flunked the class?

Because on University Challenge, they were saying something that was not how it is phonetically spelt. Like maudlin or something?

Why is that?

(& on a side note, is it a boys-only college?)

I'm applying to colleges, and I'm torn between Harvard and UChicago. I love both (I went to Harvard Summer School), but they're very different from each other - Harvard has the name and prestige, and UChicago has a very close and welcoming community; both have the academic rigor I'm looking for.

I'm wondering what other people's thoughts are - is it more important to have the name for when you graduate, or the experience while you're there with a lesser known college?

I have a 4.0, an AA from a good community college, time spent abroad and international scholar. Cons are a poor HS record (4 years ago!), above average but not fantastic SAT. Please help, no one else will!

I am currently a senior in high school and am considering a medical career. Next year, I'll be attending the University of Michigan College of Engineering. I am interested in medicine but I don't want to be a clinical doctor. I wouldn't mind a job like House, but what I really would want to do is medicine from an engineering prospective.

..such as UCLA's Summer @ UCLA? I'd like to drop french at school next year so that I can take APs in subjects I actually like, and get a better GPA along the way. I already have done one and a half semesters at school.

My wife and I are both pursuing our Master's degree. Since I'm full-time employed, and our only source of income, private schools seem or best and probably only option. We have an under 2 year old daughter, and wish to obtain our degrees before our family grows bigger and we both want to enroll in the same University. After doing some school shopping, we're debating between Strayer and Devry, and would like some input from graduates from both sides. Thanks.

It would be great if you have suggestions of books in these subjects: Pharmacology, Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology.

I want answers only from people who have experience with the books and who have compared several books.

3.8ish GPA, 2380 on SAT. I'm really not sure what kind of major I want, but I want a school on the northeast coast. I already have those major Ivies that everyone wants to apply to, but I'd like to apply to less well known colleges that I have a good chance of getting in to.

My average is 94.7 usually, but this term I'm about to get a 75 on my report card grade. I'm a senior, so this will be the last grade colleges really see, my fall term grade. Will this prevent me from getting into schools I really want, like Columbia and Dartmouth?
