I know that I should be involved in extra curricular activities, and my test scores should be really good, but is there anything else I am really missing. (or even the little things) i really want to get into NYU, but I am just a little concerned about what they expect from me as a student. (besides being motivated, and hard working)

According to their profile on the College Board's website, your application essay, recommendations, rigor of your academic program, and GPA are the most important criteria to them. After that come character/personal qualities, class rank, extracurricular activities, test scores, and talent/ability. Also considered, but less important, are having a relative who is an alumni, racial/ethnic status, volunteer work, work experience, being a first generation college student, and your level of interest.

As neniaf has said, all those things are recommended for most colleges. Yet, most of it is gained over the long term, so if you're already in the application process, focus on a polished, unique essay, but otherwise, it's too late to change what you've already succeeded/failed in high school.

I think you have it down pretty well, as long as you have top-notch grades, high ACT/SAT and some nice EC's you should be able to get in there! Make sure you write some very impressive essays :)
