All right I'm at Michigan State right now, and I want to transfer to University of Michigan because they have a better Computer Science program.

The thing is Michigan's requirements to transfer there is very competitive and there's a lot to do. Here's the requirements:

Also, Michigan State's Computer Science program, you do not have to take Chemistry, and you need 3 semesters of math. Michigan requires Chemistry and 4 semesters of math. And jeez, you need a frickin' 3.5 GPA to get in?! State's only 3.0!

I'm a freshman in my first semester. The thing is, I don't want to take courses that I don't need for Michigan State, what if I don't get my transfer? I would waste a course of Chemistry and a semester of math when I could be doing something else.

What should I do? At the moment, I'm just waiting for my grades to see if I can even go

Would you have been able to get into the University of Michigan as a freshman? Because you can't transfer as a freshman unless your qualifications were good enough to get you in from high school. They will look at your SAT and high school grades to make the decision.

The University of Michigan is an excellent school, but it is highly competitive. I worry a little that your attitude of not wanting to take anything unless you have to will mean that you won't be a very good fit at Michigan. There is a reason why you needed a much higher GPA to get in.

I like how you guys know my attitude and didn't answer my question. All you did was complain how I'm not ready for Michigan.

Okay, scenario time:

I take the extra classes.
Apply to transfer...
Didn't get in.

I would say those extra classes could have been replaced by other Computer Science courses that Michigan State had to offer. That's what I'm worried about.

You need two year credit of math, for me, I can't transfer until after my sophomore year.

So, what should I do in the meantime? Should I take a risk and take the courses anyways?

Just be mindful that scholarships are not very well for switch pupils. I had an excessively top GPA and ACT and obtained right into a 4 12 months tuition free of charge. If I desired to switch to yet another location now, similar to you might from a group school, it might be sudden to even get a million/two of my education paid for. So calculate how a lot the group tuition is, after which seem at how a lot 2 years of school at a 4 12 months tuition shall be with switch scholarships. And then calculate how a lot a 4 12 months with a well scholarship shall be.

you need a 3.5 from MSU if you have 30+ credits, if you don't then your highschool grades are mainly taken into consideration. UofM and MSU are on completely different levels and the way you are talking you are not on the level to be at UofM. You should be more than happy to take the extra classes if you wanted to go to UofM.
