Ok, right now i'm a student at UT San Antonio and it has been a dream of mine to attend USC. Here's the thing.. My first year in college didn't go so well..i dropped quite a few classes because i had to work so much to pay the bills. But right now I have straight A's in all my classes, plus i am a tutor here at school. I also do volunteer work every month at an orphanage for the united way. I plan to attend in fall 08, almost a year from now, if i get accepted of course. What can I do to increase my chances of getting in and any advice i could use?

I have been reading up on the University of Texas in Austin and it seems to be a good fit for me. I have a 4.41 weighted GPA and a 3.7 unweighted GPA (top 9 % of class). I got an 1850 an the SATs (or 1300 critical reading and math). I am president of FCCLA, vice president of ecology club, and treasurer/historian of science club. I am in National Honor Society and National French Honor Society. I am in a Math and Science Center program at my school. I also have 200+ hours of community service. Lastly, over the summer I volunteered most of my time at the Capital Area Health Network, a healthcare system in my area. I know it is hard for out-of-state students but I am very interested in this school. I would probably apply for the school of natural sciences. Also, I am African-American and I do not live in Texas, so the 10% rule does not apply.

I finished college 5 years ago and got a BA in Psychology. As it is, I'm not using it and don't actually have intentions to. (I know, poor career planning on my part). Right now I'm in banking but I want to go to school again to pursue something else. Do people ever go back to college to get another bachelor's degree years after they graduate?

I realize I could just get a Master's in a different area, but I'm concerned I won't get into a program because I don't have the right education/job experience/and I could've gotten better grades in my undergrad studies. I just wanted to get an idea of what other people do in similar situations. Thanks.

I'm seeking a recommendation from one my professor for an outstanding opportunity in our programs national organization. I'm already in the university program organization (which he approved).

I've been in contact with the national people and they are excited I want to join aboard. BUT problem is I need a recommendation from my professor/advisor and that person won't be with the university in a couple of months. New job opportunity so you can imagine how crazy that is.

I'm actually scared to ask him because someone asked him in class (innappropriate IMO) if she could get one but he didn't say anything. I don't know if that means he's just not doing any or what. Any ideas because he's the only one I can get one from ATM. If I don't get one from him I have to wait until next April. Plus he's really busy.

I REALLY REALLY want to do this and it will put me in networking with big top people and other top students. Opporunities will open

I am a history major at UCLA and I'm considering teaching at a community college. Would I need a Ph.D for that? I wouldn't mind teaching at a different state...how does it work in yours?

I know colleges like Western Career College and CSI College claim to be accredited by the US Dept of Education. I have looked on the site and I didn't find either school for the state of California. I want to purse a career in pharmacy, and I wanted to know if anyone here has done one of the 18 month courses and how well(or bad) it turned out for them when they tried to look for work? is it recommended or should I go another route?

It seems there's so many college bound students who will only be happy if they're accepted into the Harvard, or Yale, or Duke, or John Hopkins, etc. of this world. Whatever happened to just wanting to go to a regular school that has a good program that you like? Is it really that necessary for a student to be in one of top 5 schools of the world or it's all for naught?

Personally I'm of the mentality that it should be the student making the school and not the other way around. At least here in Texas Michael Dell came from a regular school (UT, and he didn't even graduate). So did LBJ (TxState). While I appreciate students aiming high in their prospective schools, IMO they just set themselves for a larger fall when things don't work out accordingly with their careers, even after attending these "prestigious" schools. It reminds me of the business grads who automatically expect to be hired as managers or CEO's of their new organizations. Any thoughts would be appreciated?

I've decided to obtain my degree online if I don't get the chance to drive after all. I suffer from a condition related to epilepsy. If I get nailed with a seizure, I'll have to wait for 3 months to be cleared to drive. I just went to see mt neurologist nearly 2 months ago, and he said that I look healthy enough to drive, but during the last couple of days, I've nearly had about 5 seizures, but I didn't get them. Whew! That's the main reason why I can't go to school: Lack of transportaton, and that I can't drive. What do you suggest that I do? I want to return to school at the beginning of January. Really, really bad!

Career wise, what can I do with an MBA if I were to aqquire one?

2007-10-05 03:42:08 · 5 answers · asked by Anonymous

I'm working full time (average about 48 hours a week) and i'm taking 9 hours (which is all i can take) at a traditional university at the moment. My job is a temporary and i'm trying to finish school to have a back up plan so taking only 9 hours a semester is going to take me about 3 years to finish, which may be too long. So anyways University of Phoenix and Devry would allow me to get a degree a lot faster but i'm not sure if many employers would hire me. By the way I want to obtain a degree in Finance or Information Technology. And pursue a career as a Real Estate Broker, Loan Originator/Officer, Financial Advisor, or Database Manager.

After thence....(I know the word mawkishness.....I just cant figure out what on earth Keats was trying to say....

Does it mean that in reading the pages one experiences the same feeling as being in that phase? or that one who has been though it would understand? or what?!?!? I'm sure there are other options....

Could someone please paraphrase the last part of the sentence in clear modern american english?

Thanks a bunch - I was going to use it as an inscription to a book - but now I'm not sure that it means what I thought....its a keats quote for a keats fan....but really, whats it mean?

The imagination of a boy is healthy, and the mature imagination of a man is healthy; but there is a space of life between, in which the soul is in a ferment, the character undecided, the way of life uncertain, the ambition thicksighted: thence proceeds mawkishness, and the thousand bitters which those men I speak of must necessarily taste in going over the following pages."

This is for a college ethics class. This can be an activity only for the class or for the community. But it has to teach diversity awareness by experience. We only have a month to finish this.
Please be ethical as this is for an Ethics class.
