I'm working full time (average about 48 hours a week) and i'm taking 9 hours (which is all i can take) at a traditional university at the moment. My job is a temporary and i'm trying to finish school to have a back up plan so taking only 9 hours a semester is going to take me about 3 years to finish, which may be too long. So anyways University of Phoenix and Devry would allow me to get a degree a lot faster but i'm not sure if many employers would hire me. By the way I want to obtain a degree in Finance or Information Technology. And pursue a career as a Real Estate Broker, Loan Originator/Officer, Financial Advisor, or Database Manager.

No.

Think about this, if UOP or Devry offered an MD degree, would you feel comfortable with a graduate operating on you.

I am in my 3rd year with UOP. I am a Warden and yes they exept this degree. I talked to my employer before starting and turns out a lot of professionals have gone to UOP. I have over 27 years in law enforcement and corrections and I could have used my work experience for college credit but I chose to do it just like everybody else and do the classes. For those that think it is easy take a advanced class and you will see it is just like going and sitting in class of a top University. I know nothing about Devry but I will say this once I finish my Masters I have 3 junior colleges wanting to hire me already to teach.

The University of Phoenix is Regionally Accredited, which is actually the highest a school can achieve in this country. Stanford pays its own employees to go to school online at UOP, that's how strongly they believe in UOP's education's worth. I know, I work there. If you'd like some info about a degree program send me an email at dane.mason@phoenix.edu, or call me at 602.713.0407. I'll give you all the information you need to make an informed decision on coming back to school.

Those school's degrees are not really respected by most employers. They're degrees are only nationally accredited which are not considered properly accredited so if you want to get a degree online get one from a regionally accredited school or better yet get your college education onsite because it's more respected.

But are these universities expected, while persuing higher studies in India? For example, if I have done bacholers Degree from University of Phoenix or Devry, am I elegible for Regular MBA program or distance learning programs (from the institutes like IMT or Simbiosis), in India.

It depends very much on the employer. If the employer him/herself went to a traditional college, the answer is generally no. If the employer didn't go to college, s/he probably doesn't know the difference. Also, if the idea behind the degree requirement is just for the employer to say that the employee has a college degree, the online degree from a commercial enterprise may be respected, but if the idea is to ensure a level of knowledge, then probably not. The idea that you are doing this to finish faster gives a clue - speed is not supposed to be the issue in getting a degree. If taking courses at a traditional university is difficult to fit into your work schedule, then consider taking online courses at a traditional university - there are plenty now which offer online versions of what you are taking now. But if what you are looking for is a shortcut - less time, less work - then no, it is usually not as well-respected, nor should it be, just as anything done in a shoddy manner shouldn't be as well-respected as the real thing.

There are other online schools with better reputations than u of p- check this link for some brick and mortar schools, that also may be cheaper. Nothing wrong with online, but why those schools? I've known people with good experiences at Devry, but I always think it's best to look at more than one option.

http://www.r1edu.org/participants.asp

and it's tough to transfer back out of u of p. Think about what you really want to do- any chance you'd ever go for an MBA? Even 30 yrs from now?
