Yeah --- they are your family and care about you. Plus, if they have any money input in your education, it's just plain respectful. I'm 49 and my in-laws STILL know how we are doing in life -- geeeeezzzzz.

There are the times when a long conversation helps the heavy heart of a parent or guardian. Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year, or any other religious holiday is a good time to update your parents on your school progress as well as life in general. Other than that a phone call every now and then (once a one or once bimonthly) satisfies the craving of a relationship with family!

It is up to you. Your parents cannot get your grades unless you sign a parent release form. You are now 18. You are considered an adult and can make your own decisions. Its really your decision and no one elses. Parents might pull the whole...but I am paying for it so I should be able to know your grades. That does not matter. That is their choice to pay for you to go to college. Good luck in school

If they're paying the bills, then they have every right to know. Certainly you can't share every detail, but they should know your grades and an idea of how you spend your time. If you're working your way through school and paying your own way, then you're an adult and can communicate at a level you're comfortable with.

Assuming your parents aren't Britney Spears, morons, or some other moral rejects, why wouldn't you?
Your relationship with your parents is one of the most important relationships you will ever have. It will set the tone for all other relationships now and in the future. You need them.
Now if you been screw around in college, and are making poor decisions, it is best you talk to them first before they find out some other way. It is the adult thing to do...

Why not let your parents know. They raised you and will always be in your corner. They are also are probably paying for your college. They deserve to know. That is the least that you can do for them since they have done so much for you.

If they are paying the bill they will probably ask so they dont waste their money next year if you are failing everything this year. If you do well, I assume that you want to let them know so that they can brag how proud they are of you. In either case, the school wont tell them so its up to you to make the decision to tell or not tell.

As a mom of a college student, you better share that information. Especially if it is the parents shelling out the money for you to go to school. AND as a mom, let me tell you one thing!!! You better be gettin' A's!!!

I think you should let your parents know that you are ok, looking after yourself and eating proper meals (even if you are eating junk food and living on cans of beer)
They would like to know that you are finding your courses easy to follow and that you are being independant.
Dont forget to let them know you miss them and when your finances are getting a bit low!
Good luck with your studies!

Not like for every little test/paper, but I always share my final grades with them. I'm sure your parents love to hear how you're doing.

i would say no because then it they feel like thaey can still have some controll over you. if they ask just sum it up, like Good, bad, or ok. that will give them no control over you in that manner.
as nice as some parents are it still hard for them to let go of their controll. so help youre self be a better self reliant person and not tell them youre grades.
