Civil service, the backbone of the Indian government machinery constitutes all the departments which runs the State administration. A highly competitive and challenging area, it involves a variety of jobs in different departments. Compared to private sector jobs this profession has job security. The prestige and power that comes along with these top-notch jobs is a definite reason for anybody to join this profession. The salary, allowances and facilities like healthcare, housing, conveyance etc. also make it a lucrative profession.
Entry into the IAS, IPS and the Central Services, Group A and Group B is through the All India Combined Competitive Examination for the Civil Services conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in different centers spread all over the country. However, recruitment to the Indian Forest Service is through a different procedure. Entry into the State Civil Services is through a competitive examination conducted by every state public service commission. Anyone thinking of taking up civil service, should have an idea how difficult it is to get in as lakhs of candidates apply for the 400 to 500 vacancies that may arise. So once you decide to appear in civil service exam, one should be prepared to slog endlessly.

First of all, I get the impression you're basing these points on some things you've read about certain religions, or about the controversies raging around some of them. That being said I'd like to make a few points: The Bible does not claim to be a source of info regarding everything, only--basically--to help you get to know God accurately, and know how to serve him so as to enjoy his blessings--including how to live forever. If you were an executive in a large corporation you would most likely have at least one secretary (altho I think they're called something else now). And if you called her into your office and dictated a letter for her to send out, she would type it up and bring it into you to sign before it left the building. At the lower left corner there would be some initials: yours and hers. (Not everybody knows this.) Now, whoever receives the letter will say it comes from such-and-such a corporation, or maybe from Mr. So-and-so in the corporation--most likely the former. Even if they know the letter was typed up by the secretary they won't say it came from her. IN THE SAME WAY, Christians know the Bible is FROM God, but written by several penmen--40 if I'm not mistaken. He inspired them, by different means, to write what they put down on paper (actually parchment). I doubt anyone believes in the geocentric idea now, and only a few believe that the earth is just a few thousand years old. That comes from people who believe everything in the Bible is literal, or from misreading or misinterpreting some passages. Yes, it is possible to flood the entire world! You're thinking in terms of the world looking like it does now. The Bible itself says that the shape of the surface changed during the flood (Genesis 7:11; 8:2--which shows where all the water came from; Psalm 104:6-8--which shows what the earth looked like before or during the flood, and how the flood affected the earth's crust). Also, a friend just reminded me: seashells have been found up near the tops of mountains, which could happen ONLY if the mountains were under water at some time in their existence. If you are basing your argument wholly on "logical thinking" that is a trap you should beware of. Whether you believe people are imperfect or not you do know that we are definitely NOT perfect, so, therefore, are subject to mistakes. There's more than logical reasoning involved. Most people who denigrate the Bible do so because they either (a) have never read and studied it with an open mind, or (b) accept what other people--prejudiced against the Bible for one reason or another--have said. Please try not to be one of those. All "holy books" have at least some benefit to them (there is NOTHING in the Koran to justify what the Taliban is doing, regardless of what they may say). Most, if not all, of the negative things associated with religion arises from people who misinterpret, misunderstand or misapply what their holy writings say. Which goes back to IMPERFECTION, like it or not! Someone who knows their Bible well CAN prove their claims; the problem being with those who are not willing to listen. Sorry I took so much of your time, but I hope this was helpful. I disagree with "John P" about the Bible being imperfect. It is the product of a perfect individual, so is therefore perfect. No, not the physical book itself, as some believe, but the information it contains.
