Higher Education (University +) - March 2007

I have a bachelor's degree in engineering, but I do not like it. Rather, I like to write. I wish to do a master's degree that's got to do with writing. I want to learn all kinds of writing - creative writing, writing articles, copywriting, etc. What degree is suitable? Degree in creative writing? Journalism? I'd like to do a master's degree that'll get me a job that's got to do with writing. Also, is it possible for an engineering graduate to do a master's degree that's related to writing? Any advice? Thanks.

I have a BA degree in French as a foreign langugae, and an MA
in English a foreign language from a German university. Right
now, I am teaching at a German school in China.
Somehow , I like teaching butt I want to teach less since I really
find it tyring.
I also started to play the piano again and want to play in hotel
lobbys but my repertoire is not big enough yet- as to my
sound - I think I am ok - acutally.
Another interest of mine is journalism as a hobby and I did write
articles for several newspapers as a freelancer during my studies
but then stopped.

Recently, I started learning Italian since I want to go to Italy
next year.

Overall , I think I don´t think I am doing anything poperly, and
considering age (42) I don´t have any security yet because
I have always been a freelancer since schools that pay appropriately always ask for two Master´s which I don´t have.
Too late ?? What should I do ?

My friend's son who is a fairly good student is going to appear for the exams on 8th April. He has been preparing for the same for the past 2 years at a fairly famous Coaching-Class in Mumbai. He has enjoyed his stint at the institute. He has given the board 10+2 recently. He is not feeling tense at all which is surprising to the friend and his wife. This they recently confided in me and asked me to put it up on Yahoo Answers as they know I am one of it's enthusiast.

DO YOU THINK THEIR SON IS REALLY CONFIDENT/OVER-CONFIDENT?

Do you think he is indulging in escapism?

I'm pursuing my MFA in creative writing, and someday hope to teach creative writing at the collegiate level. I've been accepted to the MFA programs at Iowa (arguably the top MFA-CR school) and at Columbia University, which is also in the top five. I've always had an attraction to Columbia, as well as its Graduate School of Journalism (I have my Master's from U of Missouri and am considering continuing my j-degree in order to teach, possibly). However, though Iowa is the perpetuated gold standard, I'm really stuck between it and Columbia. I know the difference in the pricetag, but what are some of your opinions?

Today, I got the big envelope from USC saying I got accepted. Since USC already sent a letter saying they won't give me the scholarships I applied for, I won't be going because family can't afford it. My friend said SC will give a lot of money but even if they pay me half the tuition, it's still a lot. So...

I'm still waiting for UCB, UCLA, UCSD to tell me results at end of march. I already got in 5 UCs. (People ask me why i applied to schools i won't even go... well, i dunno where my potentials can take me... safety nets?). Happy to see my potentials met the USC standard. Although, I got rejected by Stanford early decision.

So do you think i can get into UCLA, UCB, and UCSD? I found out I made a typo in my personal statement. I must have accidentally pressed back space when copy and paste the personal statement... because "thirty" turned into "thity". I hope that they won't see it as a flaw and automatically eliminate me.

After posting a million questions about careers in this Answers forum, I decided to become an art director. Its got everything I want in a job. Good salary, calls for creativity, capable free-lance, and can easily be changed to something else I like like interior design, or actual movie directing.

My questions are:
1) What is the best college for art director in san antonio Texas?
2) What college courses should I take before getting into a company I like?
3) Can you do a variety of media as an art director ((example: For magazines, and telivision both))
4) Is this a good career field to get into? (Not too competitive, etc.)

I would like someone to try and answer all, but just a few are ok too.
