You go in a calculus or chemistry class, and all the professors do is talk. Yap yap yap, we need to know how to do the damn problems in the book. Yapping doesn't help. What do you think, and how did you get through these classes?

SCU, the school I am highly considering is 60 percent white, 20 percent asian and 20 percent other.

I really like the enviroment and what it has to offer, the only thing my friends warned me about was whether id fit in or be the "oddball out" because of my race.. do you guys know anything about this school?

As long as I have many other extracurricular activities, do you think playing a high school sport is an absolute must for getting into college?

I have two little brothers and a daughter. I think it is a bad idea for 18 year olds to go to college for a few reasons. I think colleges try to make their students think a certain way. I also think that 18 year olds will not focus on school like they should. Am I weird?

I'm a sophomore in high school with hopes of becoming a lawyer, but due to being sick a lot of school this & last year my GPA and grades are suffering, but I do good on the state tests. Will having a 2.4 (+ or - some) GPA effect my chance at becoming a lawyer?

I haven't spoken to a recruiter yet, but what I'd like to do is work as a paralegal with the J.A.G. for 4-6 years. Afterwards, I plan to attend the University of Tennessee majoring in pre-law, work hard, and hopefully attend law school at Vanderbilt. My aunt is alumni so if I work hard, I could get in. If I can't however, I would attend law school at UT. I'm capable of this, I consider myself an intelligent person, but I've made mistakes in highschool. My father died my soph. year and it caused me to lose focus and I let my grades drop dramatically. My GPA is about a 2.5 at this point. My ACT is not a problem but I know a good GPA is very important also. I'm motivated now and I'll do what it takes, but is it too late to reach my goals? My thinking is that while enlisted in the navy I'll be able to pick up college credits, (like attending community college) then, with a good ACT score, I can get into UT. I'll have discipline, and experience in law so I will excell in college. Plausible?

I graduated high school in 2006 and went to DeVry University in Georgia. I planned on getting a degree from there, but it turned out to be a horrible school and a complete waste of time and money.

Everything my parents saved up for me to go to college was used up trying to pay for DeVry. Now, I applied to a four year school and got accepted, along with all of my redits from DeVry. I can go there in Fall 2007 if I continue with the registration.

However, my dad is complaining about money and wanting me to go to community college since it's wiser financially. I have a friend in Daytona Beach who offered me to come room with him in an apartment and go to Daytona Beach Community College. If I do that, I've got to arrange to have my college transcripts sent and apply.

I really want the social life of a university. Community college can't give me that. But I'll be in debt until I'm 70 if I do 4 years at a university. So what's the better option?

What kind of a degree do you need to do in order to get in to the field of Humanitarian work?
and what are the possible career options?

I have always been interested in 'helping people' and most of all 'making a change'. I would like to do something related to health - like working to prevent diseases in communities etc.
I was planning to do a degree in Public Health and Social Work, but yesterday I heard about this Humanitarian field.

Any advise or info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm considering applying there after finishing my AA at Inver. I know the admin process is very selective, but I have the grades and honors to hopefully make it thru. Looking for the views and opinions of the school from current students, before I decide to apply.
