SCU, the school I am highly considering is 60 percent white, 20 percent asian and 20 percent other.

I really like the enviroment and what it has to offer, the only thing my friends warned me about was whether id fit in or be the "oddball out" because of my race.. do you guys know anything about this school?

What use is education , if you are going to see yourself as a specimen of your race?Even if you do , how can 20 % be oddball? Why not split 20 % into sub-samples?It is up to you to belong to 20% or 30% or 100%

You have nothing to be worried about. You will fit in because there are different kinds of personalities and you will probably find a group of people that fits you.

20 percent is a pretty high number. There are universities in this country that have less than that and I think SCU is pretty diverse because of 20 percent other and 20 percent asian. Dont worry so much about fitting in. Worry more about academics and getting good grades.

Since you said this is the perfect school for you, then you should go to this school. You dont need to worry about fitting in.

I'm Asian and went to an even "whiter" college - Trinity College in CT is something like 90% Caucasian and 10% "Other" last I checked in 1998. Beat that! :-P

When it comes to higher education, however, its racial makeup should be the least of your worries. More important is its ROI. Believe you me, you will be graduating with a LOT of student loans under your belt. You need to make sure that the college or university you're attending is prestigious enough so that you will be able to eventually pay OFF those loans. Equally as important is a school's activities and social scene, or what I call ***, haha. :) If you're HUGE croquet player, for example, they damn well better have a croquet club on campus! You get the idea.

In the end, when I decided to go to Trinity those many moons ago, I took into consideration the ROI and *** factors and decided that the ASIAN factor (or lack thereof) was no longer a factor. I must admit, it did feel lonely at times. But I truly believe that the experience has made me an even more independent individual today.

You should compare the 20% Asian population to the Asian population at your current school. You may find that your current school is less than this 20%.

I would be more concerned about the college's curriculum, accreditation, and job placement record, than its racial make-up.

Good luck....
