I have two little brothers and a daughter. I think it is a bad idea for 18 year olds to go to college for a few reasons. I think colleges try to make their students think a certain way. I also think that 18 year olds will not focus on school like they should. Am I weird?

I think if someone lives life for a couple of years they learn to think on their own. In this way it is harder for others to influence your ideas.

I went straight to the Army after high school. I think that would be great for all three of them. They have a chance to learn about themselves and still not waste time.

hmm honestly it depends on the maturity level of that 18 year old. I was in college when I was 17 and im moving onto university at 19...and I adjusted pretty fine...at first it was hard to concentrate on the schooling b/c of all the college & university events...but then i came to an actualization that 'I'm going to be 19 next year and LEGALLY i can do all the things i want to do now...so what's the rush" ...and that's my story lol....but honestly...it all comes down to maturity and the temperment of that individual.

You're probably not the only person in the world...

But you're right about certain colleges sort of making their students think a certain way, which can be positive or negative of course depending on the issue.

But I don't understand your dilemna. Those same problems would exist if they were 19, 34 or 50. No offense of course...

what do you want them to do when they graduate high school? float around aimlessly? if they aren't ready for a 4 year college, there are plenty of great community colleges or trade schools around. big schools aren't for everyone, but continuing your education is good.

would it be really better if they don't go at school at all?

choose a GOOD college and if they are serious, they will succeed.
