C++ in GIS?

Hi guys, does GIS (Geographic Information Systems) include the use of computer science especially java and c++?

VB.net moreso. It depends on what GIS package you're talking about. I'm most familiar with ESRI...so I say VB. Other GIS packages may work more closely with other programs.
