What are some positive and negative forms of punishment in the classroom?

Positive - worse grades, loss of privileges (playground time), contacting parents.

Negative - physical exertion (pushups, jumping jacks, etc.), emotional abuse (swearing and name-calling), witholding food/bathroom time, and, of course, physical abuse (hitting, slapping, spanking, etc.)

Any form of touching the kid - negative
Time out, taking benefits from the kid (like breaks) is positive
