In other words, since a decade ago we have read and heard about 'active learning' which, academically speaking, infers students' active involvement regarding what they're studying. This term also stresses the importance of activity-oriented modes of teaching and learning in and out of classrooms. One of the reasons is based on some advanced research in countries, notably between the US and China, regarding the mathematics superiority, say, at the senior high school level. And as far as I know, such learning is one of the key factors that keep Chinese students excelling.
