Exams encourage a very unproductive way of learning. Unlike in school, university students have no time to study properly, and must resort to cramming to catch up with the exams. And in the end, they end up not remembering anything.

Instead of emphasizing on understanding the facts, they had to shove, shove and shove copy-pasted ultra-simplified notes up their brains in a day, hoping that it makes sense.

Actually of course it makes sense. Make sense enough to be able to do well in exams, whose questions are hardly anything above plain note-recalling challenges (eg. What is the antagonist of H2 receptors?). But does it make sense in REAL job situations?

Employers don't want to have employees with photographic memory - they have books and computers to do that for them. They want good problem solvers. People who KNOW ( as in understand) what they learned and are able to apply those knowledge in everyday situations.

It is ok... I am 84 out of 828 in my class. I know I have to work really hard to bring it up! This was as of first semester, and I am a freshman, so it will change alot. But if I was a senior, would I be able to get into a good college? (Only taking ranking into consideration... I know there is a lot more to it). Thanks!

Preferably one in the US. Specifically, but not limited to teaching in an elementary school. Also, a list of possible majors might be nice too.

I am officer in a club for 2 years now, and this club built city floats and won trophies. I played football and now am doing track. I have won awards in football and track. I'm not going to play football next year, but maybe senior year. I will run track next year though. I also have about 80 community service hours, where I volunteered cleaning in the mountains and where I built these floats. I am running for an ASB position and I think I will make it. I have taken 1 honors course, and I will probably take 1-3 AP classes next year and honors pre-calculus. I will also work and take summer school this summer. Where should I go to college?Would USAFA or West Point accept me? Any suggestions?

Between my school, my parents and myself, I'm stressed out over college. Every1 keeps telling me I'm gonna fail but I have great ambitions in life, I wanna make my name very well known. My field is film and music. My highest choice school is NYU but I already know I won't get in. I'm a junior and every1 says that this year is the most important. I've tried hard at the beginning of every marking period and then towards the end I mess up. I dont know y! My marking period averages have been 83, 82, and now this (the 3rd which just ended) I may have anything between a 79-81 (not totally sure yet, it wasnt released). I'm terrible in science (physics) and math is touchy. I'm trying not be lazy and get all the work done but then I just kinda fail towards the end. I also took the SATs (after taking 2 math classes and 1 english) but the scores werent released yet. I wanna be some1 but I cant keep doing this. Is there any advice any1 can give me on what 2 do? Is it appropriate to get one from a Professor who you only had for an 8-week undergrad course? Or is that too short of a class, even though there were tons of writing assignments and I got to know the Professor quite well.
What do you think??

I'm doing a project for language arts, we have to send a business letter to a college we like, since we're learning how to write business letters. I'm in 8th grade. I need a college or preferably a university that has all of these subjects there:
Palentology
Geology
Archeology
Cryptozoology
Paleozoology
Primatology
Criminal Investigation
European History
Ancient History(ancient civilizations)

Can you at least name three colleges or universities that have all of these or most of them.

I really can't choose which one i like the most!

I have the option to attend law school in a neighboring state or stay in my home area for my studies. Both schools are of equal status for the most part but I plan to practice law in my home state. The one out-of-state will cost me half of the one in my home state due to a sizable scholarship. Should I even go to law school if they are Tier 4 schools? I'm three years into a career I see no future in and I'm getting married in 6 months! What's a young guy suppossed to do?

I am just wondering people think of the college.

Are the classes hard?

Could I find a part-time job easily enough?

I am wanting to go back to school for a master's degree (I have already obtained my B.A. in Psychology) and am wondering if anyone had thoughts on online degree programs. I'm not sure if I would be getting as good of an education or if it looks as good to employers. Any personal experiences, suggestions, or thoughts?
