I'm gonna go with a NO on this one. Why would they stock such a product for purchace anyway? That would make me wonder what other products they have out for purchase that may be questionable in quality. By the way, since this is in the "higher education" category, I guess you could say that you "learned a lesson" and won't visit that retailer again! ;)

It's not the retailer's fault. Corks in any wine have a chance of contaminating the wine. This is why many wineries are switching to plastic stoppers or screw caps, because corks add nothing to the wine except for the popping sound when you open it.

it doesn't mean the retailer did anything. the wine was badly corked by the bottler. sometimes thats not even the winery. you should be able to get a refund for that, since its undrinkable. soon there will be no more cork and nothing to worry about since there is no more and they are switching to plastic caps or plastic like corks now.

Yes, it may not be the retailers fault but the distributors fault. It also might just be a bad batch from the vineyard. The bottomline is, do you like the store? Is it convenient for you to shop there? Is it close to your home? Do they meet your needs?

I would report this to the store so it can be traced back to the company. The company needs to do a recall. If you still have the receipt/ and the bottle/ and cap that would be good to take back to the store. I would still shop there, they are going to be your best friends to get this solved.

Your problem is with the brand, not the store. The store doesn't cork the product.
