What is a good college for someone to go to if they want to become a teacher?

Preferably one in the US. Specifically, but not limited to teaching in an elementary school. Also, a list of possible majors might be nice too.

Elementary school teachers mostly major in "elementary Education" rather than English or Science or some subject like that.

Since you are interested in teaching, why not go back to one or two of the elementary teachers you had and ask them what you should do. They know exactly how it works, right?

There is no point in going to a spiffy expensive private college to become a teacher - for one thing, they dont have the right courses. And also, they cost a huge amount, more than a teacher can easily pay back. Your best bet would be the state university or a local public college that has a dept or school of education. If you are a good student and you take a few courses in science and math or history you might be able to get a certificate in elementary or middle school science or math... then you will be in much better shape to get a job.

There is definitely a need for good teachers, but you need to ask around a little and see if they have any shortage of teachers in your neighborhood. They might not! But if you are willing to move around the country for a few years, you probably will be able to get a job right away.
