I am getting ready to go to college this fall. I have two prospective colleges in my area that I am interested in. The schools have to be in my area as I have a family and can't move.
Both offer a Pre-Medical program and are very good schools. In my research to help decide which school to attend I came accross USNews.com that had one school ranked high in a classification called "Master's Universities" and one that ranked high in "Comprehensive College's". Aside from this and the fact that one is in an urban setting and the other is in a suburban setting they are almost identical, tuition, affiliation, selectivity, ect.
I have tried to research which would be the better path between them from a medical standpoint, but can't find anything.
Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone have a masters in public health? If so what kind of job you have and how you got it. I am thinking in getting my masters in public health, but looking around I did not see many jobs available for people who have this degree.
Any suggestions for someone who is thinking in pursuing this degree?

I'm an undergrad majoring in psychology and public policy. I can't figure out what to do for grad school. I want to work specifically with education, alcohol and substance abuse, and emotional therapy/counseling. I wanna do more with the public policy major, but psychology is pretty much worthless without a ph.d. Some have mentioned getting 2 masters degrees, one in public policy and the other in social work, but social work isn't wuite what I want to do.

Also, I know the things that I want to do, but who does those things. Like the typical question: What do you want to be when you grow up? What kind of people work with policy, wanting to change policy in education, alcohol, and similar areas.

It sure isn't easy trying to figure out what to do with so many options.

I have been searching all around the internet and my school guidence department for a culinary school that can offer me a associates degree. I really want to stay in canada but i'm willing to go outside as long as it is not in the U.S - nothing against the country its just my mom who is absolutely hystarical and I have family in most other parts of the world. Anyway, I was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction. The only two things that really matter is that it HAS to offer a degree and that its NOT in the states
thanks :)

Here is my situation. My parents financial situation isnt the best so it appears that I will be paying for all my college. I have a 4.0, involved in sports and academic clubs to the point of insanity, so worrying about being accepted isnt too bad. I know that I either want to go into Film or Marketing. If I stay home I can go to Uof M for next to nothing cuz of scholarships, but I want to leave the state since Michigan is a wreck. Do I spend the thousands of dollars on a limited film school bachelors program or do I do it at a University which will cost a lot more? Help anyone.

Algebra in high school? They have remedial classes that are lower than college algebra, so does this mean that most college students start with college algebra and not pre calculus or calculus?

I'm thinking about a career change (going into education to become a teacher). I was wondering how much it is going to cost? Is it cheaper than actually going to a college and sitting in a class?

Okay, I am a Higschool Student right now and I am currently in my sophomore year (10th). Last year I did poorly, unfortuantly i got a 2.6 GPA overall (2.7 sem1; 2.5 sem 2). This year my grades somewhat improved but not as I hoped for Semester 1 i got a 2.85 GPA. I still have second semester to go and i am trying to do better and at LEAST get a 3.0-3.5 (mostly B's). I am in College-Prep courses (CP) right now. Next year I am trying to go for mostly A's in all my classes and senior year also. If i get all A's from junior year until senior year 1st semester what will my GPA go up to? I currently have a 2.68 (for 3 semesters so far). I have 4 semesters left and if i get all A's, what will my GPA raise up to from a 2.68??. on the 4.0 scale since im in CP? also, for colleges..im not looking to go to a 2 yr/comm college or voc school/state school. im looking for a 4-year, priv, unv. any good tips will be great!! =]] k thanks =]

I am a social worker, I constantly read psychological reports that are not even close to correct. Granted that is my opinion! But I also spend significantly longer w/ clients than any psychologist does, and base it on more than individual opinion as I deal w/ collatrerals (others who are involved w/ the individual) who often feel the same way.

I know psychological assesments are not reliable (vary greatly from one individual to another) but are there any studies (journal articles) comparing the assesments of psychologist vs. social workers?

Throughout the first half of the year (two semesters and mid term), I've accumulated a GPA of either a 2.99 or 3.0 (Through rough calculations). I have about a 3.5 right now in my third marking period with (3 As [History, French, Gym], 2 B+'s [Photography, Language Arts], and 3 B's [Science, Math, Communications Graphic Design]) with one week left to go in the marking period b4 spring break. Say I finish off my freshman year with a 3.2 - 3.35 cumulative average, what do you suggest I do my sophmore year grade-wise b/c next year the activities I PLAN ON DOING are school newspaper, JV or varsity BBall, student gov't (class representative), year-end literary magazine (writer), and AAU basketball (during Spring & Fall); so I think I'm good with sports and clubs. What should I do about my grades. BTW I'm in all High College Prep classes, no low college prep & no honors though I will be taking honors French in Junior year and AP French senior year.

I will be a senior next year in high school, and am planning to enroll in either pre-med or pharmacy school. I am taking AP Biology this year. Next year, I can take either AP Chemistry, AP Physics, or Anatomy Honors. Since I have two free periods, which two should I take so that I have the best chance of getting into college and pre-med/pharmacy school?

okay so lets use Astronomy for example. I heard that in able to be an astronomer, you have to have a Bachelor's in Science and a PhD. So basicly do I get my Bachelor's in the undergraduate then get Phd in the graduate school or get the Bachelors in college? And is it okay to go to Harvard University without going to college? What about if you want to be a doctor?
