Higher Education (University +) - February 2007

Why do we Have to go for collages[ I Pre-unversity and
II Pre-unversity] When most teachers or lecturers are not interested to teach or rather Do not teach anything in class.They just want to complete their portions in time..
I prefer to go to my Tution Classes.. Where atleast the tution teacher teaches me something and the best part is he wants me to learn...
That should have happened in the collage..why cant we just goto coaching classes and just give our exams....

am 21 i'll be 22 in a couple of months i feel so lost i have been out of high school for almost 3 years i've done a year of city year and worked 2 years i am thinking about going to college but feel that i am too old to be starting college i sould be in my 3 or 4 year will it be weird because of my age will it be differant because of my age i also have felony for robbery and feel a degree would be a waste of time because i will be unable to get a good job i feel ending my life will end all my worries can i still become a social worker does anyone know a person who has turned their live around

major in addiction
studying addiction would be very interesting to me and i like helping people but the salary isnt as high as I would like.

major in psychology
studying psychology would also be interesting to me and I like helping people but i doubt i would want to spend 5+ years getting a PhD and I've heard a BA in psychology is worthless

major in accounting
i am good with numbers and salary is good

major in chemistry
i was going to major in chemistry because Ive done very well with it in highschool and it was a interesting class but i just got a C in chemistry 101 so that is discouraging to further any pursuit in this major.

If they only go to school for a year to become certified am I correct in the understanding that they do not have an actual degree then? I want to get my Associates Degree as a CMA and have no qualms about later going back for LPN, I want an actual degree and not just a certification.

I failed two classes last semester. I'm almost failing the two classes I'm taking right now.

Even If I keep repeating classes, I failed those classes, some career will see that I failed those classes and repeat it just to pass so I won't get a job. Why waste my time?

I want to start my Masters in fall 2008 but I am so confused about which program to do and which school to attend. I have 5 years working experience in the media; for 5 years I have been a tv news reporter. However in the past few months I left the media and I am now working as a public education officer for an environmental agency, where I plan events, do PR, and conduct public awarness campaigns/exhibitions. I asked this question earlier. Due to the comical and sarcastic answers I received I realized that maybe I should have been more specific. I am a registered nurese with over a decade of eperience. It is obvious that you cannot obtain a degree in medicine without clnical training. So more specifically, does anyone know of a program that offers lectures and/or text based work online with clinics and labs done on campus or at a nearby facility? The topic is: "College admission boards should consider a student's race before admitting them." Also known as the affirmitive action.

I'm on the Opposition... I as much information as possible stating that the college admission boards should not consider race before admitting students.

Just to let you know, if colleges were to pay attention to race when allowing students in, it focuses on those minority races who rarely get into college, and allows them to get in, regardless of test scores.
It's not really a racial thing, and it's not excluding those who succeed...

I am finishing my biology major, but I don't want to pursue a doctorate anymore. Could you recommend me short careers that are interesting, rewarding, etc, offers good pay. It could be a Master's Degree or a Post-Bachelor Degree. Anything.
