It doesn't have to be Biology right? Can it be something else? And what other majors?

It can be any major you want. The key is to take all the required courses they want. Otherwise, any major will do. A higher and higher percentage of med students don't have a traditional hard science degree anymore.

The other thing I want to mention is that "pre-med" is NOT a major. You can't get a degree in "pre-med". Anyone who tells you to "do pre-med" likely has no idea what they're talking about.

Pre-med programs are just programs. You still have to pick a major. What those programs do is make sure you fulfill all the required classes that med schools want. Extra specific counseling so to speak. This is nice cuz it takes stress out of making sure you don't miss a required course b/c the names of the classes might make things confusing as to whether they count or not.

You have to register for pre-med because you need that beginning class before heading to medical school.
